I rewatched the first film after years last night- it's crap but I really enjoyed it!

The fat shaming of Samantha was awful though- it literally looked like she'd just breathed out while wearing low cut trousers so there was a teeeeeeny bit of overhang yet the 'shock' of the other 3 was absolutely ridiculous!

Also rewatching SATC. God, she never liked Aidan, did she? She cheated on him almost from the start and they had nothing in common! She got the ick from his sex noises and his eating chicken in bed. She didn't want to marry him. And he was weird and horrible about her smoking. I hate smoking too but I know it's an addiction and tough for a lot of people to give up. Aidan treated it like some kind of moral failing. There was no spark between them whatsoever. And he had a face like a ham.

Team Big every time!

“He had a face like a ham!” 😆
Now he has a face like some reformed ham! 😮🤢

All of this. Her and Big were at least similar enough to build a life together.

If the writers do some ridiculous 5 years later jump with AJLT 3 where her and Aidan are together I’ll flip out. They don’t even get along outside of bed.

I’m watching SATC1 and I think Carrie should have see some warning signs to calm the duck down with the wedding! 😂 it’s very clear he just doesn’t want that part of it.

she’s like ‘wedding before contractor!’ On their 18 million dollar apartment.
She says right after ‘how are your vows? You have to say these in front of a lot of people!!!’

she wrote her destiny here I think…

it’s a good movie though!
When I watch the first film I always side with Big a bit b/c tbf he did try and back track when he got his car to stop 😅 and it was Mirandas fault anyway for what she said to him
before the wedding about getting married

I cant stand Aidan one bit!
At least Big had something likeable about him.Well I thought so anyway

I hope what happens is this, episode 1 starts with aiden dying in a suspiciously similar exercise related thing. Turns out Carrie actually killed big and the reason Sam no longer spoke to ger was she had found out about her murderous plan. The series then alternates between whatever random new characters rhey introduce and clips of Carrie in prison trying (unsuccessfullly) to style her orange jump suit and moaning to her totally uninterested collates about the lack of good lighting in her standard self centred way

When Aidan just waltzes into the apartment after Carrie sold it for him, and then dumps her, the screech that came out of me was unholy. Why would you put your life on hold for five years for Aidan normalhands in his toy soldier jacket?
I am so late to catching up on the last episode and the thread but this post has just KILLED ME

I am genuinely howling at some of these comments, aidans ‘turtle beak’ as someone put it has sent me over the edge

I’ve said it once before and I’ll say it again, GOD BLESS THIS THREAD

may it never die

I don’t think there’s any excuse to stand up the person you love at the alter, just because you didn’t like the wedding.
It was one bleeping day that he couldn’t put up with, for the person he supposedly loved.
She should’ve never married him in the registry office, she never got the wedding she wanted.
I hope she gets married again, and has a massive, duck off do.

Unpopular opinion but I was totally on Big’s side on the first movie. He didn’t want the big fancy wedding full of strangers he’d never met, then when they split he didn’t move on, he even bought her that penthouse and built her a shoe wardrobe!
I agree, obviously he should have been clearer but it was down to a miscommunication with the phone (thanks Lily) rather than him leaving her at the alter. He just wanted to speak to her before hand and because they’d been so rocky their whole relationship it ended with her assuming he had left. He even says in the car “what am I doing!”

But I don’t think she wanted the huge wedding. I think she got swept up in all of by people around her. I feel like it’s one of those storylines that you get in shows and books that could be resolved by a simple conversation or just by communicating but obviously that leaves no room for drama.

I disagree. I think she was excited as duck, like most people marrying the person they love.
He humiliated her in front of basically the whole of New York.
He’d already had 2 weddings, but he couldn’t even let her have one.

It was both of their wedding, so if they were real people (😂) they’d probably just have to find a middle ground between what they both wanted. I did feel like she essentially gave up everything she wanted in a wedding, just to make sure he actually went through with marrying her!
That is true. At least Carrie didn't come down the registry office aisle to the strains of "When A Man Loves A Woman".

I just never believed that Big, as he was written for 6 seasons, would have gone through the public drama of jilting someone, especially as she had enough of a public profile (“our wedding is on Page 6”) that it would’ve been in gossip columns.

Called off the wedding with a week to go? Maybe. Married her and then asked for a divorce straight away? Sure

But he never would’ve left her at the altar, not someone of his status

I wasn't on either of their sides tbh. you shouldn't be organising a wedding and be totally on different pages about it . Ultimately they are both as selfihs as each other imo
