The Blind Beggar pub, was never owned by the Krays, that was where they shot George Cornell. Im also from the east end, and have friends that knew the twins, and also visited them in prison(s). Also, to say that Barbra “got on” because of her connection to the twins, is not at all true!!
I didn't mean that they owned it sorry should've made that clear, more that it was the pub where the Krays and their associates would regularly hang out (their turf so to speak), hence the pub's reputation.

Alzheimers/ Dementia is such a horrible disease isn't it, I wouldn't wish it on anyone. A relative had a form of dementia where you experience (often scary/threatening) hallucinations. It's awful thinking of someone living the final years of their life in fear of something no one else can see :(

My Dad slightly knew them too as he worked in the East End back in the day. He always said they were perfect gentlemen on the surface if you were on the right side of them. They stood up if a lady joined them at the table etc.He also said petty crimes in that area were frowned on by them but there was a very dangerous undercurrent whenever they were around.

Fun fact re Sid, despite his dolled tan flannel face, even as a nobody women loved him. Maybe because he was a bad boy or a really good dancer?
Same as Rod Hull a funny looking bloke, and a horrible man, but even when he had nothing always had loads of women apparently. Come to think of it, I've heard the same of Micky Hucknell. Us women can be peculiar in our tastes!
Another one to the "Unlikely Womaniser Club" is Richard Whiteley - apparently all sorts of weeping women turned up to his funeral? Wasn't he nicknamed "twice nightly Whiteley"? (Though I think it was in reference to how many times he was on telly in a certain region at one point in time).

Anyway, *Shudder*.

I didn't know them at all, but i can imagine that there would be an awful undercurrent if they were anywhere near me, the charm was very superificial and they were both a nasty piece of work, I can't understand why they were, and still are in some quarters hero worshipped.

When the twins were sentenced, they got taken to a holding cell, and Ronnie shouted out to Reg, “Eat yer dinner Reg, don’t let them think they’ve got to us”!! And yet, Ronnie decided he couldn’t hack it in prison anymore, and managed to pull a sickie to Broadmoor, where he was treated like a celebrity!!

He was the schizophrenic twin wasn't he? So he needed to be in a hospital but why on earth treat him like a celebrity.

Re admitting to guilt.
When there is overwhelming evidence, the defendant can cough to the charges and still expect a lighter sentence I believe? I may be wrong, if so someone will point it out.
Also, "I've done a terrible thing, I need help I'm a druggie piss head, mentally ill, 8 hat emyself" usually follows on from famous person in domestic violence or sex abuse cases. Hoping to muddy the waters of clear responsibility and guilt, even trying to appropriate victim status.
Remember Michael Jackson fleeing to the Middle East after one set of allegations when he made public his addiction to tranquillisers. Not suspicious at all!

All in the public domain.

I always think "Eastenders" looks like a pile of crack anyway,, I only ever see two minutes of it if I'm waiting for something else to come on. I get passive embarrassment from the acting.
I much more prefer Corrie it balanced comedy and tragical in equal measure s.

I love the carry ons but I've heard dreadful stories about her to co stars etc I also heard of Sue Pollard saying to the children s chorus in a panto "keep them cunts away from me " haha

Haven’t read much about Kasabian other than about their music. But Tom Meighan split from Kim James - the mum of his eight year old in 2016. He then got engaged to Vikki Ager in 2017.
Awful that his little girl had to witness and make the call.
He has received 200 hours of community service? A complete joke. I know he pleaded guilty but he should have been made to serve jail time.

I didn't know them at

He was diagnosed in prison, and that was only because he couldn’t handle “normal” prison. He knew that he would get a transfer, and that was what he wanted. Both the twins were mentally unstable, but Ronnie wanted a way out, and that’s why he played up his symptoms.

It was the power they had. Very intoxicating to some people. Even though their power was born out of fear it attracted certain types eg: BW. She also lived in Spain for a while near my Uncle and used to frequent a restaurant where she used to become raucous and abusive after a few drinks and had to be asked to leave on a regular basis. My Auntie used turn the TV over if she ever popped up on it. 😂😂

I thought he had been diagnosed way before they were imprisoned for the George Cornell murder when he was in prison for something else. I think that Reggie drove his poor wife mad with his controlling personality.

He was actually diagnosed in Broadmoor, but in order to get to Broadmoor - he had to be declared legally insane. The truth was, he couldn’t handle normal prison, and played up symptoms to get where he wanted to be, and he was treated like a celebrity in Broadmoor, by the screws and the other inmates. He used to swan about in a monogrammed robe, and had his favourite “boys” who used to fetch and carry for him. My friends knew both twins really well, and I posted a story about one visit to Broadmoor.

Yep Francis committed suicide.
Reggie actually confessed in prison that he murdered her, but he wasn’t taken seriously.

I love the Daily Mail comments. A friend just asked me if I'd seen George Clooney's face recently so I googled it, got onto a Mail article about him going for a drive with Rande Gerber and went straight to the comments (obvs). This one made me laugh;

Poor Georgie. Still stuck in the cIoset and now henpecked by a skeletal Lebanese she-maIe.
Sounds like our kind of person 😂😂

Exactly. Only an immoral person would be taken in.
Let’s put all the gangster glamourising to bed.

My uncle remembers being in a fish and chip shop when they turned up and extorted money off of the hardworking and terrified owners

The two most famous murders were done to inspire fear, one man shot for insulting Ronnie, and Reggie almost decapitated another man in s house about a third of a mile from where I am now
Reggie’s wife killed herself after an abusive marriage and Ronnie took advantage of teenage boys who knew they couldn’t say now

The woman who was courageous enough to give evidence against them in court had her life ruined, knowing she could be killed at any time.

Really?! Team Babs or Team Wendy haha. I don't know if i believe Babs is a witch, well, she has quite bad Alzheimers now so I wouldn't call her a witch now but from a lot of what I read over the years she didn't have time for slackers on set, slebs that just wanted to be slebs, going out, getting papped and falling into the Eastenders set still pished as a fart and not bothering to learn their lines.I think she was just very dedicated and professional towards her job but maybe I'm wrong. I've always liked Babs.
People like Martine McCutcheon
