Im not intelligent enough to quote the post but @Sour Pickle mentioned in the last thread that they had come across Anne Kirkbride who was obnoxious and it just got me thinking. Last year or so, I came across that Deirdre & Me documentary on YouTube when I was going down the wormhole of people who I couldn’t believe had passed away.

Having really liked Deirdre on Corrie, I was like I bet you she’s just as nice if not nicer in real life…boy was I wrong. It felt like she went out of her way to be as obnoxious and outspoken as she possibly could to distance herself from the character (in all the worst ways).

Soapstars in general have poor acting skills (we could all give it a bash and be the Tina O Briens or Jack Shepards of tomorrow) and I find it hilarious that certain people don’t realise what a golden ticket they have to be paid decently for not a lot in reality. I know it must be frustrating for people to assume you to be the same person in real life but in some cases it’s not such a bad thing and a bit of an upgrade!

Anyway I’m heading back to finish off the previous thread.

I mentioned in the past thread, I'd seen Tina OBrien in a bar smoking area, smoking and asking people not to take pictures of her, the trouble was, no body was taking her picture, yes people knew someone from Corrie was in the bar, but it wasn't like people were even attempting to ask her, most people couldn't give a tit.

They think cause they are household names they something special, but so it's Ambrosia Custard and that goes off after a while.

It’s true that most of the cast of Corrie and EastEnders would be stuffed if the shows were axed tomorrow. People like Kirk and Gemma and Chesney can’t act for tit and would never find work elsewhere.
It’s why most of them come back, I haven’t watched eastenders in 15 years but I’d recognise some of the cast as they’ve been and gone - they couldn’t get work elsewhere. Some exceptions to that theory of course, Anita Dobson for one has had a good career post soap. Nick Berry for a while until he disappeared. And those who had careers before the soaps like Craig Charles in Corrie or Martin Kemp in Eastenders have carried on just fine post soap. Adam Woodyatt wouldn’t get a job elsewhere, he’s too ingrained in people’s minds and no one could see him in another role.

Wendy Richard was the same. Refused to have short nails in keeping with her character and couldn’t walk and talk at the same time.

Does anyone know why Tina OBrien smashed up Ryan Thomas's car a few years back? They used to be amicable and now they're definitely not.

Vicky Pattison got married today.

Yep, a perfect example is Jamie Lomas (Warren in Hollyoaks) He left a few times and went to Hollywood thinking he was gonna get all these roles but had to come back as no one gave a tit.

I saw Adam Woodyatt in My Fair Lady and he was very good; he played Alfred P Doolittle, Alice's dad

I’ve never had a strong opinion on her until I saw a headline that she was “heartbroken” at how much her wedding is costing. Looking into it more it appears she surprised it’s expensive to get married abroad with four different outfits but weddings can be as cheap or expensive as you make them. Don’t want to spend the cost of a house on yours, then don’t. And definitely don’t go to the papers complaining you’re spending that much like someone has a gun to your head

I know there's not many Sam Smith fans here, but he looks lovely doing the proms. I'll show myself out.
I am not a fan myself. I hope he’s stopped the silly outfits?! Glad you’re enjoying the show though.

I did see a funny description of his voice once which was he sounds like someone sitting on a helium filled whooppee cushion full of vowels🤣

Oh wow. I stand corrected! I didn’t know he’d ever done anything else!
