the more i read about Slave Play the more I become convinced that its all just a gimmick and the playwright is just trying to shock to get a name for himself. I have heard his work is very misogynistic. i mean do we really need full frontal nudity? Do ppl not know what a penis looks like and can use their imagination?

As a West London dweller is anyone else wondering what on earth a baronet was doing in Acton??!!
Lost because they drank the bar dry at the lion and 🍍?

Am I missing something because Kit is a really well known shortening of Christopher. It's in the majority of baby name books, although it is also a name in it's own right as well.
Yes, but people called Kit short for Christopher do tend to be on the posh side these days, which it would seem he is. The more plebby way of shortening Christopher is obviously Chris. It reminds me of what Frank Skinner said in his autobiography about how David Baddiel was the only David he knew whose name was never shortened to Dave. And apparently Baddiel couldn’t get over Frank’s poverty stricken childhood which for all intents and purposes was just that he grew up in a council house.

I’ve just watched the Ch4 documentary about Barrymore recommended by someone earlier on this thread. He’s very clever (manipulative) the way he speaks to and befriends reporters outside the court. You can see he’s lying in the sit down interviews about what happened. What I do wonder is if the injuries were inflicted whilst the victim was alive, would there not have been blood at the scene? I understand they could clean up but surely there would be traces? Did they leave it too late to look as they didn’t suspect foul play to begin with? It’s such a tragic case. Stuart’s dad 😔 I hope that Barrymore dies, of old age or otherwise, before others who were present that night and the truth will eventually come out.

I would think David Baddiel goes by David because Dave is not a diminutive used in Hebrew?

Genuinely thought she was holding a pregnancy test

I used to work with Frank but we all had to call him Chris (his real name)

I think it’s seriously uptight when people try and gatekeep their own name. I went to school with a Victoria who wouldn’t let it be shortened to Vicky, Vic etc. I so often think that shortened versions of your name are said affectionately, and the need to tightly control your name is quite unbecoming or is trying too hard to sound posher than you are. Most truly posh people I know love to shorten their name.

I think it might have been an Equity thing where there was already a Chris Collins but I’m not entirely certain.

I agree. The folk on Mumsnet go mental when a teacher shortens their (primary aged) kids name and I always think just wait til your kids are in secondary school and they get a weird nickname. There’s several different diminutives of my (real) name and I’ve probably been called all of them at one point and it’s never bothered me.

On a side note, did you go to school with Vicky Beckham by any chance?
