I understand everyone wants to run these marathons, as it seems everyone is running them, but there are other less known marathons that are the same distance, where you won’t have to push around people to be able to run it.

Let these influencers have those big marathons, and let’s hope they leave the small ones alone.

I did a half marathon on the same day as the Paris half, not a single camera or go-pro in sight.

TBH I um and ahh about London anyway, I'm not good in big crowds and for my pace I would be with a big pack the whole way (I would be aiming for 5 hours roughly). I also get a terrible pre-run tummy so the idea of queuing for the start an hour before I start running makes me want to cry - even though they have portaloos in the queue. Edinburgh was quite good for that, your corral had loads of loos and they didn't move anyone forward until everyone went off so it was about 10 - 15 minutes from the first runners going to my group.

It's more the principle for me! It feels like London is becoming this 'elite' cult event that people want to run just to say they've run London even though they have absolutely no care for running any other day, just because some influencer told them they should want to run it.

Caveat… I’ve always started in yellow which is very small, but between my last wee and going into my start pen at London this year was about 3 minutes. The wave system people whinge about and does mean a later start but it does mean you aren’t queuing for 200 years just to start like you used to

Ah that's useful to know, my anxiety tells me that I'll be stood around for hours waiting before I even start XD

Still, unlikely I'll ever get in either way!

When I did it I was blue I think, it was the biggest group anyway, I waited and went in the last wave and had about 40 portaloos to myself 😂. And I waited until the last minute to join the start so there was very little waiting around. I wouldn't have wanted to be in an earlier wave.
 
Has anyone else seen the posts from Alex M recently about her champs qualifying time? Whilst it’s a great achievement I’m getting the desperation in them now and almost like she’s trying to make herself sound like an Anya!
 
She’s obsessed with the arbitrary championship time in the same way runjogwalk beans is obsessed with a BQ.

Atleast AlexM trains though, and she has achieved it

duck me!!! Just looked at her page after reading this. Nothing like shouting about not actually hitting the target time you specifically trained for 🙄😂

She recently had a very smug LinkedIn post about been a marathoner makes her much more employable and why she is just so amazing. As well as criticising the kids she is paid to teach saying they aren't as disciplined as her! Yet 6 months since she started looking for social media marketing jobs she still appears to be looking and she wonders why.


Georgia Weston is having a moan about runners posting race photos with watermarks when they haven't bought them. I can understand where she is coming from but it does come across so smug and entitled 'if you can afford race entry fee and travel then buy pictures'. She clearly has high disposable income, is a spoilt brat still living at home with her parents and can afford frequent race entry fees. For some people they can only justify cost of one race per year, do it local so minimal travel cost and what is wrong sharing a photo on your story. The prices some of these race events charge for photos is crazy. I don't see her tagging the photographer when it's a local Yorkshire photograph volunteer who photos for free, probably because it shows her in true light, unfiltered, not suckling in or bizare pose.
 
I agree with Georgia though, it’s often the photographers income, you don’t need the race photos, so if you can’t afford them on top of everything else don’t use them? If you couldn’t afford to eat at a certain restaurant you wouldn’t go and just not pay.

And if you’re screenshotting it with a watermark just to show your mum then that’s maybe a bit different but she’s obviously talking about people putting them on social media. If you’re a wannabe influencer trying to gain clout/freebies then not paying for the photos is a bit tit

She's looking old and haggard lately, don't know how she will cope with another kid, probably pile them both off to the Nannas so she can get marathons in and trips to Disney.
