A million years ago I used to go to a regular track session with someone that couldn’t keep up with anyone and was out the back during the intervals but would try and catch everyone on the recoveries. Stop worrying about what everyone else is doing for gods sake!
In my old club, there was a woman slower than me that would try to stick with me (or pass me) the first 5 seconds of a repetition. Then, she would fade away. Next rep, she would be back to start in front of me. Why???

Now being flooded with coopah ambassadors giving 2 week free codes….. Runna 2.0?

yeah. They now got various race collabs incl. London marathon. Probably same concept, same type of training plans, same marketing etc. I am not inclined to give another one of those a go also because Jordan works for them. Interestingly, Vicky (the new gf of Danny) is now an ambassador. How weird is that….

There is a local man who EVERY race, parkrun to big half marathons, starts at the front with the skinny 20 year olds and tries to keep up with them, he manages, id say on average, about 8 strides. His parkrun times are about 26 minutes?! I don’t get it, it can’t be fun just being shoved about for the rest of the run.

That’s one of my annoyances with parkrun. I think people do it because it’s based on gun time rather than chip. If you start at the back then it adds time. It can’t be fun being overtaken like that and it’s not fun trying to dodge them.

I know some people who pause their watch during the recoveries so it doesn't make them look slow, really, who cares?

Yep I know people who do this as well. I honestly do not care what my pace looks like on strava, I do occasionally consider making it completely private instead of friends only so no one can be nosey about what I'm up to training wise (the joys of running club "friends"). I use the suggested workouts to go with my scheduled race on Garmin a lot, I accept that some of the metrics on there are nonsense or inaccurate but from what I've read HRV is actually a fairly reasonable thing to monitor for recovery. You can look ahead on the week suggestions and even if on Monday it looks like Friday will be a speed session if I then have an awful night on Thursday it will tell me to rest or do a short recover run and not be a dick because my body can't handle it (instead of pushing through because it's on the plan). It also knows or thinks it knows what I'm capable of pace wise when suggesting workouts. For me it does generally suggest a threshold type session, some sort of sprint intervals and a long run every week and lots of "base runs" at really easy paces in between. I used the Garmin marathon plan for my first marathon earlier this year as well, I liked it as it was all to time and not distance and I comfortably managed to go sub 4 and didn't pick up any injuries in the training or on the day (apart from chafing  )

My local has a runner who is complete opposite, for someone reason he loves to start at very back, over take everyone and still finish first around 17 min mark

I know a guy who is famous for this. Could even be the same guy. He actually raised money one race to start at the front! 😂😂 our claim to fame would be if he hi fived you as he flew past! Would still win races by a country mile!!

Runnerbeans getting freebies with peloton now do you reckon? Surely they’re not giving her a free gig for posting. Looks like she was in their studios last night and I highly doubt she paid

I was wondering the same thing... maybe they are trying to look more diverse? 🤭 Dont forget she is off to NYC for the marathon (of course not running it).
