Was just thinking that- I’m a week behind her and thought I was huge until I saw her.
She looks 9months pregnant and she’s only 24.
She’s risking gestational diabetes at this point- plenty with a better diet than her have gotten it!
Gestational diabetes is caused by the placenta, not diet. However the fast food will catch up on her and she’ll be complaining about weight gain 🙄

I’m at risk myself and was told I may be able to stave it off with diet management and exercising. My baby’s abdomen is measuring large so that’s the warning sign apparently.
There’s no way to not have it, it’s the placenta altering the hormones causing insulin resistance. Every pregnancy causes risk. Having a large baby can be a sign but that’s not the only sign as scans can be 2lb wrong either way.

You are correct. The hse explains how women can prevent gestational diabetes.
Some women will get it no matter what they do but others can help themselves prevent it.

You can lower your risk, but it’s not a proven prevention. It’s like not smoking reduces risk of lung cancer, doesn’t mean you won’t get it anyway.

Well maybe she should be trying to lower her risk by eating healthier then!!! Yes anybody can get gestational diabetes but eating healthier can help prevent it! The woman eats a load of tit! Has a desperate diet so it will not help her…

I’m really not one to talk, as I said I’m being monitored for GD myself.
I just tried to survive the first trimester, and was so relieved that I could eat again that I went mad.
But after a few weeks of that I copped on and have made more of an effort to eat plenty of fibre, fruit and veg etc. Could do better of course and defo should do more exercise.
She already looks like a beached whale and she has 16 weeks to go. She’s going to be soooo uncomfortable at this rate.

Or maybe actually read the whole article? 🤭 That’s like telling a type 1 diabetic to eat healthier to avoid catching it. It’s hormone related caused by the placenta resisting insulin 🤦🏻‍♀️
Yes but there are additional risk factors, such as high body weight etc. Every midwife or doctor worth their weight will know this.

Absolutely, but someone with a healthy bmi and eating & exercising regularly can also get gdm. I’m trying to explain that eating junk food isn’t the only reason someone gets gestational diabetes-as stated above.
Oh ok fair enough, ur right so! I've had friends who are size 8 who got it and friend who are size 20 who never did 😁

Ya her bump is huge I actually thought she was over 30 weeks especially for a first baby . Now she is a tall girl so that could be it too , just a big baby

If anything you show less if you're tall. I didn't show until so late on my first and I'm the same height as her. Was absolutely enormous at the start then on the second 😂

All, move on now. You’re derailing the thread for others
I believe medical professionals with years of experience over what some are stating here.
It is preventable in many and is not comparable to Lung cancer or Type 1 diabetes.
You show me a medical professional that gives you a fool proof way to prevent it and I’ll believe you. You can reduce the risk, but it’s most definitely not something you can prevent because you can’t control your hormones 🤦🏻‍♀️

She's ranting about Jojo Maman Bébé not exchanging creams Robbie bought for her (EW) and giving out that she was told that they could exchange them. I've never heard of someone being able to do this for sanitary reasons. She tagged them and said she'd never go there again - you can't afford to shop in there, Kim!

Ya stuff like creams are never refundable in my retail experience.

Yes I agree, preventable for sure with healthy diet and other risk factors can lower the odds too. Such as if u have a higher bmi when entering pregnancy the risks increase. But also it can happen in person's who are overall healthy etc, due to no fault of their own

I'm confused, I feel like everyone is saying the same thing?

Ya stuff like creams are never refundable in my retail experience.
And they were bought at Christmas. What took her so long? Maybe if they were brought back within a couple weeks theyd have exchanged. But three months later!?
