I wonder if they've told the council about his new venture.
In our previous house, our neighbour started selling cars off his drive. He was leaving his own cars across other people's driveways, had people coming and going at all times, and was making a right racket when he was doing the cars up to sell.
Eventually, someone () asked the council if he was actually allowed to be doing this, and they investigated. I was later reliably informed by another neighbour that the guy had been complaining about someone "grassing him up" because he'd received some sort of fine or bill.
I also question if he'd need public liability insurance?
Our old neighbours decided to set up a shed to work from in their garden - thankfully we had long since moved, but the shed caught light - went up in flames and took half of the home with it. The fire brigade had to knock in part of the house to contain the fire.
I know this is extreme and nothing to do with what Steve is doing washing cars - but the issue was, our old neighbour hadn't notified the insurance company he was working from home from this shed - the insurance haven't paid out anything. They still have no roof on the house - it's been a shambles.
So Steve if you read here, make sure your home insurance covers what you are doing. Trying to cut corners isn't worth it.
