Finally managed to watch the final episode and I am so glad that I accidentally read who won it, I would have been so frustrated with the final few mins otherwise.

The producers knew exactly when they were doing making the finish line on the Gili islands, they were forcing the contestants in to a foot race, they tried to make us believe it was close in the Canadian series but actually far from it.

Also what were the chances of Isabel and her mum wandering thro the shanty town in one of Java’s biggest cities and bumping in to the boys? Again manipulation of the contestants.

So glad Betty and James made it, so glad that they became closer too, two of the nicest contestants that have ever entered the race, they worked hard and deserved to be able to sign that book.

See you all back here when the celebs are back on the road!
 
Betty and James became my favourites. I felt like they just hadn’t spent much time together or knew each other that well when they went in to this, rather than have some kind of contempt for each other. And they clearly clashed in the early part of the race. But they both put the effort in to understand the other one and be more flexible with each other, learned to communicate and I thought they really had a lovely bond by the end.

Jen was my favourite in the end, she clearly loved Rob deeply and was just too overprotective something that she manage to address. Couldn’t stand her in the beginning but when they went to that beer festival I began to revise my opinion and was gutted they didn’t win.
 
Trying to find other Race Across the world series from other countries but not having much success. If anyone has found any other series, please share your finds with us 😊

There is an American series called The Amazing Race, started in early 00s and is still going. Similar concept to Race Around The World (which I'm sure was heavily inspired by the amazing race)

Problem is getting it in the UK us near impossible as far as I can tell

I think there's something about this show that we remember the participants in the previous series as being better than they actually were. Now my kids and I are looking again at them they've certainly upped their game in removing the utter bores (those guys that left early in the Canada one) and the 'strange' people (the nasty Dad from the Dad and daughter in Canada).
