Sent home from work tonight 😫 place was so hot and I had a bit of a funny turn early in the evening where I can’t remember too much 😳 hoping that going to bed sorts me out

Anyone else seen baby’s gender at 12 weeks scan? We went yesterday and it was pretty obviously a boy 💙. We did plan to find out the gender anyway, sonographer said it’s unusual to be so clear at the 12 weeks scan

Hey new to the thread I am 6weeks pregnant and I suffer from anxiety anyway and this just feels very heightened at the moment. I spoke to my gp and am fine to stay on my anxiety meds and she said the midwives may refer me to perinatal mental health services at my booking appointment. Does anyone have any experience of this? We are going for an early scan at the weekend which I'm hoping will provide me with a bit of reassurance.

Hey hope I can join. I am only 4 weeks pregnant.

I have had two previous miscarriages both at 8 weeks. Subsequently been diagnosed with an immune disorder which makes my blood clot meaning I miscarry.

I’m under the care of my consultant and a team who deal with high risk pregnancies.

Tomorrow I start my injections and meds 🙏 I am hoping this means my pregnancy lasts.

Hope the injections go well - have you had them before?
I had IVF and I had blood thinners until I was 12 weeks then moved onto aspirin. I do not miss the bruises I used to give myself with them 🙈

I have came off my contraception in August and have tested positive today. I feel I have absolutely no clue on what I should / shouldn’t eat and I feel awful about the fact I’ve been drinking on various occasions
Do the doctors only see you at 6 weeks? Help please!
Congratulations! Don’t worry about what you’ve been eating and drinking, the placenta doesn’t take over until later on so baby is getting nutrients from the yolk sack for now. I got my positive test this time after a holiday where I’d been drinking pints all day and wine all night 😅

As for food etc during pregnancy, I don’t avoid anything. I still eat rare/med rare steak, raw or smoked fish, runny eggs you name it. Except pate but that’s purely because I hate it 🤣

I think my nesting really kicked in over the last week. Everything is doing my head in, I want everything ready and in place right now. I can’t stop tiding things and get great pleasure from keeping the wash basket empty. 😂

Was 29 weeks Tuesday so I think it’s still a bit early to get anything ready for baby,
I don’t remember when we did everything for my first but we had more space then. Still trying to figure out what I want and where.

I wouldn't be so sure just yet. At my 12 week scan with my daughter the sonographer told me she thought it was a boy

I had the results back from my screening at my 12 week scan and the baby has a 1 in 22 chance of Downs and 1 in 230 chance of Edwards and Pataus. I’ve been offered two options to get a better idea of the risk - a non-invasive blood test or an invasive needle into the placenta which is slightly more accurate but risky.

I obviously need to do a lot of research but wondering if anyone has experienced this and has any advice?

With my first we came back 1 in 10 for Down’s syndrome. I didn’t want to risk the invasive procedures and we had the NIPT, it was just a blood test and it came back as 1 in 150,000, she didn’t have it and we were switched back to low risk. We were continuing the pregnancy either way so we didnt want to go with the invasive procedures and risk anything happening. Hope you’re ok, although we were continuing regardless, it was really scary!

Next week I've got the appointment to check my cervix to see if I'm at risk of pre term labour and to see if I need a stitch. Is it just a case of literally a check and you go home or do they also do any checks of the heartbeat or will we see baby again?. I ask as Husband wants to come to all of the scans but unsure of whether this is an appointment that's worth him attending?

I had one of these appointments recently and as well as the cervical check, the consultant also checked the cord and placenta and let us see the baby. I guess it might depend on why you’re there - I needed the cervix check plus my first baby was small for gestational age so they did the additional placenta scan too.

I generally haven’t taken my husband to appointments but he did come to this one, I forgot to warn him that the cervix check gets done using the transvaginal probe 😅

I think as above it depends if there is other reasons you’re there

With my first pregnancy I had a cervix check at a different time to other scans, so it was just to check cervix (though I remember we did see top of baby’s head 😂)

This time they just did it at the end of my 20 week scan

I’ve had lots of cervix checks this pregnancy and they’ve always let me see the baby and hear the heartbeat too, no other real checks are done and it’s a pretty quick appointment! I guess it depends who’s doing your cervix check and how busy they are.

I think that's very normal. I don't have one myself but perhaps try looking at it that you are going to have so much more monitoring and people looking after you than a low risk pregnancy so if, god forbid, something goes wrong they are going to be on it immediately and you are in safe hands.

I’ve just come to the realisation this is my last day ever in the house completely alone! My partner is very fortunate in getting 12 weeks paternity leave which starts soon and he will be WFH from now over the Christmas period.
I’ve started to get a bit bored recently but it feels strange that that’s it for a good long time 😂
My partner's holiday starts today and then paternity from the the 1st if baby is here. I'm glad, like you I was beginning to get a little bored.
