Question - if he’s claiming he’s done nothing wrong save for an immoral affair, why then is he admitting Holly is so called not speaking to him? Would Holly not speak to a best friend bc they had an affair? She still speaks to Paddy and Nicole no? I just don’t genuinely get what they are saying she’s not on speaking terms to him about?
I think Holly not speaking to Phil has more to do with the news about his brother being a pedophile and Phil knowing about it and doing and saying nothing.

Funnily enough a lot of what Tim's victim described such as emotional blackmail etc. is exactly what Phil is doing to MM now.

Tim was found guilty of 11 sexual offences involving a child who was a teenager at the time.

I'm sure there will still be advertising opportunites.

I watched the interview. 44 minutes of self-indulgent whinging which Phil every so often attempted to mask by throwing in the line “It was all my fault… but consensual”. Essentially, he has no idea what he’s apologising for. Even though the interviewer told him several times the reason so many people took issue with the relationship was due to how it represented an abuse of power in the workplace, Phil never addressed/refuted/denied this as it didn’t suit the narrative he was trying to spin.

I find it ironic he’s supposedly deleted all social media when us Tattlers have accumulated masses of evidence to suggest at one point he was addicted to social media. Obsessed with Twitter at one point, obsessed with Snapchat, obsessed with Instagram etc. I presume he’s having withdrawal symptoms from these sites which could explain the “near-skeletal” drug addict-esque look, as described by The Sun. We’ve also got evidence of him deleting numerous Insta posts in the past week so I’m inclined to think him abstaining from social media is another lie he’s spun.

He also refused to answer whether he’s had any gay relationships since MM, and of course we all know he has. The only reason he refused to answer that question is because if he admitted to this, everyone would find out about his penchant for young boys which would contradict his narrative that it was a one-off moment he shared with MM.

He also didn’t provide a clear answer as to when he discovered he was gay.

I just rolled my eyes in disbelief when he inevitably brought up Caroline Flack and how all criticism waged at him has shades of homophobia (whose name only seems to be synonymous with suicide and mental health issues these days). Maybe an unpopular opinion but I actually feel if this was a heterosexual relationship we were talking about, he’d be faced with even more criticism. This is because there’s an attitude that given Matthew was a man when he entered a relationship with Phillip he could handle himself better than what a girl could handle herself when entering a relationship with an older man.

Piers Morgan is a sanctimonious prick for tweeting and inadvertently outing himself as a Schofield sympathiser. I could guarantee if he was approached by MM for an interview, he’d jump at the chance.

I haven’t tuned into This Morning yet but I’m hardly surprised they’re only just covering this story today given Phil gave an account of events, which favoured ITV. He’s so obsessed with that stupid daytime show.

Yes, I think if this was heterosexual, he would certainly be facing more criticism. And it would be more of a fait accompli that he was a groomer. After all, imagine a celebrity starting to talk to a 14 year-old girl in private messages on social media who eventually joined the show and had an affair... It would blow up even bigger than it has for Schofield.

Another thing that comes to mind is that if Schofield was only giving MM advice on the TV industry, why the need for private messages? Why not be public about it? After all, it would make Schofield look good that he was giving out advice and it would help other people who could read the conversation. But, no, this became private chat. Between a near-60 year-old and an underage boy.

He has made it very difficult for anyone to criticise him now, or for new people to come forward. He has very strategically played the #BeKind or else card, and with accusations of homophobia if criticised if the threats of suicide don’t heed people off. His daughter is better at this PR game than we thought.

I sense new advertising opportunities ahead, he can advertise ham.

Piling on the blame game to deflect off himself.

On his daughters: 'No daughter should have to support me like they have done' >>> well you gave them that odious task eh Pip.

On people who have supported him: 'I have had so many messages of support' >>>> not seen one celeb actually publicly wanting to defend him, how about naming these loyal of loyal supporters Pip

His opening gambit just fell so short of the mark, 'doing a Caroline Flack' are never words anybody wants to hear in defence of wrongdoing. You shamed yourself there Pip, dreadful, absolutely dreadful, bringing her name into this mess.

Interesting that the move from TM to LW was from london to manchester
Phil said that MM was interviewed for the job, so Itv must have all known.
Why was MM struggling so much, doesn’t look like he was treated well by PS at all, seems like someone that felt that couldn’t talk to anyone and had to bottle their issues up as puppet master PS was controlling, paying and silencing him

you can also tell by the way Carol, Eamon and Kerry come across that they are telling the truth to the best of their knowledge.
PS interview just stinks of bullshit

I think all TV stations/corporations which have children on it should be provided with a chaperone. Even when not at the studios. If u have a tv presenter coming to a school or theatre club and there’s anyone under 18 a HR rep needs to be present & an adult chaperone need to accompany the child

I don't think its as simple as that. If the public are falling for the affair line then yeah, I can see people not wanting to hound him.

However, if it comes out that he has been grooming this bloke since he was a teenager, and I suspect sooner or later it will, then he's toast. A family man, a daytime tv presenter cannot be seen to get away with that and he won't. The impact of the Savile cover up is still fresh in most people's minds, if they see another channel trying to hush up a case of abuse they won't stand for it.

I personally don't think the interview was a good idea, I think its raised more questions than it answered and if the aim was to create sympathy for Phil I think its failed to do so. People don't like him as much as he seems to think they do.

So many strands to this -

MM - he has tried to explain this
His brother and the fact that he told PS - was this addressed in the interview?
The bullying claims - was this addressed?

He saw the world and his wife give their take on it this week, including blistering accusations from EH, and the manipulator in him knew he had to jump in and do a few splashy interviews.

Re Holly - I think she was supporting him about his brother but he kept schtum that his brother had told him, and he did not report him. She is a mother. That was a salient point and if my assumption is true, I don’t blame her for being disgusted. Jury is out about her knowing about MM - horrible to think he was at work getting his jollies while everyone else was doing what they were paid for. Bet that added a frisson to his jaded palette.

In my opinion, Phil is extremely manipulative.

Schofield, whom I had never met, mentioned suicide within moments of our acquaintance, and repeatedly during the interview.
When an interviewee presents themselves in this way, there is a tension between a duty of care to the individual and a duty of care to the truth.

That quote is taken from here. Schofield has worked on TV for a long time, so he is very well aware of the duty of care towards those who are being interviewed, especially if they mention suicide. Did he say this thinking that the interviewer would maybe go easier on him?

Hugely manipulative of his daughters too, basically saying he wouldn't be here if only for their support so if they finally see the light and decide to distance themselves....well, who knows what he might do?

To put that burden of responsibility on their shoulders is despicable, they have enough to deal with

LW is filmed in London, I don’t think he moved to Manchester until after he left ITV
