I don’t think it’s to do with being sheltered I think a lot of that is to do with the stereotypes surrounding drug use in society. For example I use cannabis (not the same as coke By any stretch but still not legal in the uk), quite a lot for medicinal reasons, I’m also quite knowledgable about it, but looking at me you wouldn’t know it at all! I just don’t fit the ‘type’ that people envision when they think of pot users. I look like a normal everyday person, which I am really. People are always surprised if I tell them.
Not a dig at you, just something I’ve noticed. Ive learnt that people from all walks of life take drugs. Rich people are probably the worst for it because they can afford copious amounts, but often the media leads us to believe it’s the opposite, a problem with the ‘lower classes’. Society definitely pictures a certain ‘type’ when they imagine someone taking drugs.
I went to school with a Schofield and I’m nowhere near Lancs. I don’t think it’s as common as the surname ‘Brown‘ or ‘Smith’ but it does seem to be somewhat common.
