Old School Reality TV

Whilst I'm here, does anyone remember a BBC 3 show where they'd get young/teenage couples to look after a baby or toddler by themselves for a week or so? I'm pretty sure they were all on the same street or set.

I’m half way through this episode of Would Like to Meet! The experts are just horrid to this poor woman, they body shame her repeatedly 😣 See kids, this is what we had to put up with in the early 00s 😠

Beauty and the geek!! The girls were all attractive but didn’t have much going on between the ears, and the men were all a bit socially awkward and not conventially good looking!
i loved both these shows, can still remember the theme tune to playing it straight 🤣
Omg there was one series of beauty and the geek where one of the geeks got his makeover and ended up really hot and one of the girls ended up getting in a relationship with him and it proper pissed everyone off! It was so good.

I'm sure they've brought it back on some service with matt Edmondson and mollie King as the presenters?! Unless I've had a massive fever dream

Was anyone ever awake early enough for the e4 slot where it was american teens who'd swap lives?

No but you just reminded me of a cbbc show from the 90s where they used to have kids/teens swapping lives. I remember one episode where it was UK gymnasts swapping with kid gymnasts in Russia !!

I didn’t see it but I met someone and later learned they were on it!

I believe the teen swap show was called Switched!

Can't seem to find the episode of the ch4 documentary series this podcast is based on
A lot of people have been looking for this and it looks like someone did manage to upload it, but it’s since been removed

Maybe Channel 4 will show it again due to the podcast

If channel 4 have buried it for this long (and by the sounds of what I read happened** in the episode, for good and very legal reasons!) I don’t think they’ll show it again but perhaps people with copies will put it on social media and it’ll go viral

I’m looking forward to listening to the podcast

**EDIT: this is what I read, a post from DS:

I just remember the episode being one of the most disturbing things I have ever seen on the telly. First of all the woman was ABSOLUTELY ghastly, completely selfish. I really felt sorry for her children, who just wanted to go back to the UK and be amongst kids their own age. She literally banned them from communicating with anyone with a darker skin tone than theirs... Bizarre and practically bordering on psychological child abuse.

And then to top it off, as the above quote states, the guy dies on camera (practically). And there was a disturbing scene in which the woman buries the poor man in a wooden cheap casket... And she requests to open the casket, to which his dead body is exposed... which is literally decaying (blue and everything) and she shows her kids... who are clearly shell shocked by it... but she acts like nothing has happened... It was the first time I have ever seen a REAL dead body on the tv... and it was on at like 8.30pm in the evening LOL.

It was just soooooo mindf**kingly bizarre, I honestly believed it was a hoax... Surely it has to be right?

Please don't tell me I'm the only one who remembers this episode LOL?

p.s. I know the title of this thread is bizarre lol, but there really is no other way to describe the episode.

There was one on BBC three were a brother & sister from a really religious Christian family got sent to live with a none religious family.
I always remember it because they took them out during Freshers Week and they were both dancing until Katy Perry I Kissed a Girl came on and they walked out because of the lyrics
And the sister kept quoting the bible to everyone.
