I agree but the uniforms need to be affordable. Back in my day it was £70 for a blazer!
It’s £50 for my sons, they wear standard jumper, shirt and trousers, I get them in M&S it’s the school bags and shoes are most expensive, PE kit is extortion ( £140) that’s not including the extras if your child isn’t into sports but I still prefer a uniform knowing you have the weeks attire sorted is handy.
---
Thankfully my kids are still in primary so don't have to deal with blazers and all that yet but a friend paid £90 for the blazer, £30 for the jumper with the crest and £100+ for the O'Neill's pe tracksuit and that's before you get the shoes, trousers, shirts etc. cost of uniforms is ridiculous
The PE kits the most expensive my sons school have dropped the jumper logos so you can buy them anywhere.

Definitely agree with a uniform makes life so much easier but allow unbranded/ standard items that can be got anywhere. Even my kids in primary school uniform can only be got in certain shops because it's green and the tracksuit bottoms alone are £12 + for a 4 year old and we've already been through 4 pairs since September
