Another thread talking about the highs and lows and everything in between of having a baby! As you were…

We’re now 8 months where does the time go!

Highs
There’s honestly so many highs I can easily think of now. It I’m being honest before I struggled but I could reel off so many! He’s at such a lovely age.

Sleep is a lot better now. The four month regression was horrific but we’re through that at least. He’s up twice a night in the hours I sleep which is manageable.

He is such a happy chappy and so interested in everything and anything. Just loving watching him explore and I’m addicted tmaking him laugh.

Lows

He only settles for me at night.

Ongoing teething fun.

where has 10 months gone!!

highs
it’s such a nice age i think, he interacts so much and babbles all the time. sleeps all night usually and generally a very chilled baby

lows
nothing is safe! things are pulled down from anywhere they could be. my houseplant has been shredded by little fingers and my living room looks like a bomb site… also dreading going back to work

No way are we in 7-9 months already what the hell.

Highs
We’re getting there with weaning!! He loves porridge and Weetabix and a melty puff! He’s started grabbing the spoon off me to try and feed himself but he turns the spoon upside down and then puts it in his mouth. Trying to breathe and repeat “It’s all washable” and chill out with it.
He tried to sort of army crawl yesterday, he crab shuffled his way to the side off his playmat. Not ready for him to be on the move but he’s not done it today so may be a while yet while he works it out.
He's trying to work out clapping and accidentally did it today. It’s so cute when I clap and then he tries to copy.

Lows
Think we’re going through a sleep regression. He’s waking up once a night when he used to sleep through and has been off his bottles drinking like 60ml-90ml at a time during the day then guzzling loads before bed. He’s also currently dealing with his first cold and it’s so hard watching him struggle, but he loves sneezes (he always smiles after them) so at least that’s cute!

Love this at the start of the threads.
He's 9 months and I'm wondering how..

Highs

He's beginning to really showing his personality and is a cheeky little pup. Loves his food, really progressing with eating by himself which is great to see. He held his own bottle today 😭 sleeping is ok, definitely much easier to get him down for naps

Lows

Separation anxiety is tough, leaving the room is traumatic for him.. it's going too quickly and he's growing so fast 😭

Ladies, has anyone done any form of sleep training? My eldest has just turned 3 and the baby is 7 months and I am really really struggling with baby naps and bedtime. Baby is breastfed so have got well into the habit of feeding to sleep, which worked with ny second but just doesn’t work with 2. I’ve been trying to teach him to self settle in a gentle way but it’s taking hours and hours of ny evenings and he still wakes almost hourly in the night. I have to do work in the evenings (cause money) and tonight my husband is out and trying to do them both is sending me out my mind. Been trying to get the baby down since 7, toddler is running around naked, usually goes to bed at 8 but can’t start him till baby is down and i just want to bury myself in a hole. I want to get to a place where baby will just fall asleep in his cot on his own but I can’t stand leaving him to cry. Arghhhhhhhhhhhh

This has to be my most favourite part of any thread on this whole site.

We are 8 months now too, hi baby Lava 👋😂

Highs: Ugh there are so many now, she is the happiest little thing and is just constantly smiling and has the cutest belly laughs 🥰
Has started to rub our legs now she'll crawl up to them when we are walking around and loves a little dance when we have music on 🥰

Lows: She has no patience 🤣 exact same as her dad 😅 can see them clashing in years to come already 😂 sleep is still twice a night wake ups 😴

We’re at 6 months now

Highs
Watching him discover the world. He’s rolling all over the place and can move really well in his walker and it’s so cute seeing him race towards something/someone he wants.
He babbles and screeches and belly laughs.
He’s loving discovering food.
He’s starting to recognise people that aren’t just me/his dad
Intentional cuddles/arms up and attempts at kisses

Lows
He was poorly and in hospital and he’s been scared of stuff and getting more upset since
Hair/face grabbing when he’s tired/frustrated/excited
It’s nearly time to start thinking about going back to work 😔

Very nearly at 4 months over here and I honestly can’t believe it’s been that long. It makes me so emotional looking back at my scrunchy newborn photos 😭

Highs: the smiles, the squealing noises when he’s happy, watching him learn and discover how to do things, like when he realised he could roll onto one side and seemed to continually do it for days forgetting everything else 😂

Lows: up and down sleep which leaves me not ever knowing how much I’ll get in one go again and what seems like continual colds 😩

7 months now! I love this thread 🥰

highs: getting on top of my PND with meds and counselling and finally starting to enjoy him properly. Feels like a weight lifted. Also, this week he’s learned to ‘dance’ and it’s too funny 🤣

lows: sleep is still rotten. If someone told me 7 months ago we’d still be having multiple feeds and wake ups overnight I dread to think of my reaction.

Trying to do some meal prep (meals and finger foods!) for baby. Has anyone any nice recipes that they recommend that baby has enjoyed? Trying to stock my freezer up so I’m not making tiny meals each day. Also, freezing cooked porridge has been a revelation! No more trying to cook a tablespoon of porridge at a time 🤣

I wouldn't really call it a recipe but I made veggie fritters the other day just carrots cauliflower and courgette and an egg and fried them and they frozen really well!

Oh excellent! I just made something similar but with salmon too. I baked them and then put them in the freezer and now everything online is telling me I should have frozen them before baking 😅

Oh really 😅 I just heat mine on the pan again on a low heat straight from the freezer and let them cool down for her they've been OK so far!

Very soon to be 8 months!

Highs:
After the melty puff induced "more" we've had other babbling but his first official word was dada.
He's perfected his army crawl and is super speedy as well as being able to pull himself up and cruise with ease.
He's loving his food as long as it's not a puree and he can feed himself.
He's such a happy little dude. When he's not smiling, his tongue hangs out his mouth, it's hilarious.
He will laugh at random things now and it's such a joy to hear.
Seeing him and his brother play together ❤

Lows:
His first official word was dada, just like his brother. Bloody typical 🙄
The constant hair grabbing/face slapping/shoving/pinching.
He's currently teething, tooth number 4 is just poking through. He's been restless and refusing his formula as a result and had the worst diarrhoea 🤢

Going in to work in just over a week to discuss my return to work beginning of January. Wee man has his settles in December and am really looking forward to having some time just for myself. Have booked in to speak to the GP about my PMDD as there's no way I'll be able to cope with work while my brain is all over the shop. I hope she can help 🤞

Baby shark is one whole month old!

Highs
He has started to smile
He’s much more alert during his awake time
The cuddles
We have exclusively breastfed for a month
We’ve been to our first lot of baby groups
He sleeps quite well (I know this will change so I’m making the most of the one wake up!)
Seeing his older siblings bond with him

Lows
The nappies
How uninterested my family are about him

So sorry about your family, that's awful

Anyone else's little one get absolutely rancid diarrhoea when they're teething? Not sure if Wee Man ate something dodgy or had a reaction to something he ate or if it's because of his new tooth 🤢🤢🤢 Either way, it's gross, smells like mouldy cheese 🤢🤢🤢
