If you work full time you can get up to 45 hours subsidised, not free (unless its been communicated/packaged a particular way to your friend). For example if the NCS awards you 2 euro per hour, you get 45 x 2 off your weekly rate. You still have to pay the balance to the creche. The min you can get is 50c off per hour (changing to 1.40) if you earn 'too much'. When being awarded, they do take single status into account but ultimately its down to the household income and whether the creche even participates in the NCS scheme. I'm single, on a good enough salary, and im paying more than a some married couples I know. We singles dont get free childcare. Unless someone is lying to me
