A simple Google will tell her the cost of glasses, and I don't wear glasses but am sure they can cost anywhere between £50 and £5000 depending on what you choose to spend so its a stupid question anyway.
Exactly! I have single vision glasses and wear contact lenses so get a 50% discount on glasses. This means I only pay about £100 a pair, or less if I don't get "designer" frames.

My husband needs varifocals so a single pair costs over £500

I wear reading glasses.
I went for my eyes testing and looked at the glasses in there.
The cheapest pair was £105!
I gave the optician a look that suggested he had been mainlining toilet duck and left.
Straight onto Amazon, five pairs for £25, with cases and neck strings too.
That'll do me.
I'd love to post that on there just to get them foaming.

The 'usband wears glasses and contacts, so his are more expensive, but he gets his online too at less than an optician charges.

Son in law is completely blind, so glasses are useless for him, he just has a white stick and a guide dog instead. The blind Scouse bastard. ( I love him really )
I did once ask him what he saw in the daughter. He replied ' to be fair, I don't see anything '

Ah yeah optician reading glasses are a complete rip off.

Yeah my varifocals were about that, and 2 years later I still rarely wear them because it's impossible - I read a lot and have big boobs, I can't get my kindle and glasses into the right position! Going to be a nanna and get the prescription spilt out and put into 2 separate pairs this time. Might even keep my readers round my neck!

I’ve tried buying reading glasses on Amazon, but I’m a boss-eyed bint with a different script for each eye. Mother bleeping nature.

Buy two cheap pairs with different prescriptions, then swap out one of the lenses.

I had to do this in lockdown when my glasses broke and all opticians were shut. Ordered an identical pair and swapped lenses. Optician bless him went into his shop specially and posted me a pair.

Well, I never...

Proves my hypothesis that anybody posting who claims to have insider knowledge is just another Walt.

Do you know what is getting my goat right now? People moaning about others gossiping and the conspiracy theories around KM and screaming "I hope you are all ashamed of yourselves for gossiping and demanding info about poor poor Princess Katiepoos. I hope you are all happy that you brought this on her with your speculation" but they are just adding to all the noise around this circus as well.
This isn't just MN, but here as well. People being all high and mighty about gossip about a public figure on a gossip site, where they are gossiping about other public figures 🤦‍♀️

Anyway, changing the boring subject to another boring subject, my eldest told me yesterday that his partner is having another baby, due in November making me a double nan. So, that's good news for my family and less good news for my son's neighbours 😂 I have told them they are totally selfish and should buy a rural peoperty with no neighbours to annoy.

Love the AIBU to shower for 15 minutes every day thread, hundreds of MNs replying that they couldn’t imagine EVER spending so long in the shower, the OP is horribly entitled and their teeny tiny bodies take 0.2 seconds to wash so anything longer is unreasonable.

I was just reading that one, what a bunch of prize cunts lol
I did like this reply, although if I had to listen to Bon Jovi in the shower I would be out in about 30 seconds

I was just coming to talk about this one too😆 and I love how normally when someone asks about charging their child rent, most mumsnetters say they would never dream of it, or they suggest charging them but putting the money aside in savings and giving it back to them. Yet now they are all berating this op and saying £100 a week is duck all

I don’t understand how the ones getting on their high horses think they’re such saints. They’ve all been doing it! There was a batshit thread this morning saying Meghan was to blame for giving Kate cancer and most of those pointing the finger were the ones berating people for gossiping! I mean, I’m not a fan of Harry and Meghan but at this point, Prince Edward could come out of the closet and announce he’s shacked up with Albert of Monaco and Mumsnet would go “that witch Meghan, bet she forced him out”!!

They are as bad as the tabloids. On the news show here they showed how the British newspapers reacted to the development. One tabloid (I can’t remember what the name was) had something about “vile online trolls” who have been gossiping about the princess, but the very same one had a multi-page special report on it. That’s gossiping.
