When we had my Dad's funeral (very small interment after a private cremation) I wore a Ghost summer dress that Dad had said I looked nice in. I couldn't bear the thought of wearing black. Mind you, we went to a huge funeral for one of husband's friends and I was honestly horrified at what some people were wearing... my idea of funeral is smart enough to show respect, not looking as if you'd been out in the garden shed. The family were all suited and booted in their black suits and shiny shoes, and looked aghast when people shuffled out past them at the end.

Just want to let everyone know I’m having a big salad for lunch.
In January???? Have you got early onset dementia? Tis the season for hearty stews and warming casseroles and chunky soups, with a large handful of grated cheese on the top, all eaten with freshly baked crusty bread and proper butter.

I will never be mistaken for being a Parisienne Mumsnetter, will I? :( Je suis énorme.

My bans are so sad that they're not even really mention worthy. 1st was on a thread about PC Andrew Harper after the lads who killed him were given their convictions and that I thought it was a whitewash; 2nd was during Covid hysteria and apparently telling people they are batshit isn't in the spirit of the site; and 3rd was on a Harry and Meghan worship thread. I probably did deserve that one but I was getting pissed off with Rousette aka Meghan repeating how utterly marvellous they are. And they bloody aren't, so there :ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:

OMG BLOODY ROUSETTE!!! She used to do my nut in 🤣

I remember I was asked about a job which required a double screen, assume he does something similar.

I wasn't able to afford it at the time, I could now, so that didn't go ahead. Weird getting asked to make the IT outlay to get the job!
Sounds like you've dodged a massive bullet there. There's no way an employee should have to buy their own equipment!

I honestly could eat mayo from the jar with a spoon. I ate a steamed syrup pudding for lunch because I couldn't be bothered to make anything and that seemed easiest but was warmer than cereal. (also wouldn't pass for french (in the eyes of the MNers))
Ooh, I might ask my nan to make a steamed syrup pudding for when we go round tomorrow. Steamed syrup pudding and proper custard made in a saucepan. I am never going to be slightly built and petite so there's no point in trying.

I don't know why I've just had a look at Biwi's low carb spreadsheet. I'm not sure if some people have got confused between kgs and lbs but they've been asked to put in their starting weight, and some of them really stood out. One said 118lbs, one said 124lbs and one said 84lbs. I know it could just be made up, but I really hope they mean kgs otherwise they absolutely should not be being encouraged to lose weight and go low carb. 84lbs is 6 stone!

Gosh, I hope they mean 84kg. No-one weighing 6 stone needs to lose weight!! Surely that's not an adult weight, even for a very petite woman.

Someone on that spreadsheet is a low carb, gluten free vegetarian, what do they eat? Just cheese and eggs? Bit bloody limiting...

If low carb isn't a diet and is so amazing why do they have to keep doing bootcamps? Essentially, they're on a permanent diet.

The thought of living without bread, rice, noodles, oats, loads of fruit, crisps etc just makes me feel sad. I can't eat lots of fat due to having no gallbladder, it gives me "stomach issues"

If a stew is not hearty, can it really be said to exist? 🧐

*Tilts head* just 2 screens? I have three - 2 monitors and my lap top screen.

(The fact that the 3rd screen is used exclusively for youtube videos to keep me company is neither here nor there)

Two monitors, two lap tops and Tattle on my phone here.

I live for the day carbs come back into fashion. I'd much rather eat a high carb, low protein diet than the other way around.
Some of the diet threads on Mumsnet are joyless. Feeling hungry? Crunch a handful of ice cubes.
It's also a bit worrying the number of posters who are buying Ozempic - it's bloody expensive and as far as I know, the side effects of prolonged treatment haven't been made public.

Just two monitors, two laptops and a phone? I basically have a branch of curry’s here there’s so many screens. But then me and my husband do both earn 6 figures. I can’t tell you what we do though, it’s very niche and outing because we are so clever and special.
