She is only partially right in my opinion. I dont agree with her distain for capitalist corporations. Does she want us to be some communist country? Over 300k people are employed by MNC's in Ireland. Does she want them all to be unemployed? Ireland also has 1.2million people working for Irish MNCs abroad.

She'll go on about our corporation tax rate but it is low for a reason to attract these companies to Ireland as they bring massive benefits to our country....namely employment.

She believes in a welfare state as do I. However, I don't believe that people should never work a day in their life unless there is a good reason for it (medical grounds or disability). There are plenty of people in this country who work the social welfare system. I know some people like this.

Does she realise that someone has to pay taxes to allow people live on social welfare.
 
Tbh yesterday I was glad she wasn’t commenting on world issues cos for me, that’s not what instagram is for! I watch the news and qualified people for information! Not instahuns!
But…. When I read her insta this eve i found myself agreeing and SS it because I think she put into words what I was thinking, far better then I could!
I do understand what the above poster said about capitalism / multi national corporations but tbh I don’t think what she was saying was going into it as deep in them as you explained.
I think everyone is emotional about what happened today and what’s happening this evening. It’s devastating to see it all unfold!
I dread to go to work tomorrow and hear someone complaining about “a foreigner” (there’s always 1!!) because that is simply deflecting from the innocent little children and victims today.

Facts are facts though. Non-vetted psychos piling in here daily. And coming so soon after the Aisling Murphy trial shenanigans, not exactly an isolated situation. More of a pattern of attacks. We can’t be afraid to call a spade a spade because of woke tit.

We can agree to disagree.
If I was in Dublin City tonight it’s that large group of Irish I’d be afraid of, not foreigners!
Badness is in a person regardless of their nationality!
I wouldn’t call the Aisling Murphy case “shenanigans” though!

I lived in Dublin for over half my life
I'm sick to my stomach seeing what is happening tonight
From what I've seen on TikTok it's Irish nationals causing the destruction rioting and fear among people
What happened those poor kids amd creche worker is totally wrong but this doesn't make it right

Her killer’s poor me attempt to wriggle out of it was shameless, as was the leftie support given to him by the usual Twitter airheads like Maia Dunphy and Louise McSharry. That’s what I’m referring to. And they’ll do the same with this. How anyone can be more upset over burned buses than stabbed kids is beyond warped

So you think that every single refugee should be psychologically assessed before being admitted into the country? Great idea: because we know our mental health services are so well resourced that they have nothing else to be doing.

You spoke about the Aisling Murphy trial: the man that did that wasn't a refugee. He was Slovak, which means he had the right to live here: the same right that allows any of us to drop sticks and move to Barcelona, or Florence or Prague in the morning.

It's interesting to look at patterns of hysteria when mass movements of people happen. In the 19th century in a certain well developed country, there was an influx of immigrants. Among other things, the immigrants were described as degenerates, thieves and rapists. Cartoons in newspapers depicted the immigrants as ape-men with sloping foreheads and monstrous appearances. Protests against against the immigrants became common, as well as looting, burning and finally widespread violence resulting in the deaths of many.

You won't be surprised to know that the country all this happened in was the wealthy and prosperous USA. And you might have guessed by now who these "degenerate" immigrants were : they were us.

I agree with you 100%!! I hope what I said didn’t imply I thought otherwise! That wasn’t my intention.

Cool story. But no Irish person was ever allowed to swan into any country they liked without documentation of some kind. Unchecked immigration in a low-police country attracts the dregs, and the handwringers who continue to apologise for it have blood on their hands.

In terms of documentation, are you actually for real?

Do you think that all the Irish people that came off the coffin ships into Ellis Island had their passports and letters of reference ??
 
I don’t think there’s any educated person here who doesn’t agree with immigration. Of course any country would love people to come here who want to better their prospects, live in harmony with people, educate themselves and contribute positively to society. Who wouldn’t want that? But the argument is really being lost here because there is a MASSIVE difference between the type of immigrants I’ve described above, and the chancers and criminals which are illegally entering the country. It is not far right to say this and it’s dangerous if that’s the narrative being spun. People have legitimate concerns. I should be allowed ask why that Puska
Scum was allowed be here for ten years without learning English, have 5 children dependent on the state and be claiming disability in a free house. Big difference between him and the nurse down the road from India.

The reason that Puskas could live here, have 5 children dependent on the state, have a council house and claim disability, is the same reason there are thousands and thousands of Irish people doing the exact same thing. No difference.

That reason is: we are all EU citizens.
