I did some baking with my own ‘toddler twins’ aged 5 1/2 and 3 1/2 this weekend.
We talked about the ingredients, weighed them out, cracked the eggs themselves (the 5 year old cracked one of his next to the bowl instead of over it so we had to improvise by adding a little oil to make up the shortfall!) then they chose their flavours (chocolate with chocolate chips and a cupcake on top for some reason!)
There was egg, flour, cocoa powder and cake batter everywhere by the time I put them in the oven but they had fun!
The basic cake recipe is so easy (2oz of sugar, butter and flour for each egg) and customisable to your favourite flavours and toppings!
Box cake mixes are so boring! And the cakes they produce are tiny! (Then again, she does have a penchant for tiny things
)
