Motherland

Just watched the Xmas special and I agree with most of the opinions here. I didn’t really laugh once. I get that it highlighted that terrible things can happen at Christmas, but it’s a comedy TV show, at the end of the day. If I’d have wanted to be miserable I’d have watched Eastenders. 😂
I usually loathe Amanda, but good for her.

Last year’s episode is brilliant so I think I’ll watch it again. 😂😂

I did find it funny but also a bit rushed. Did Julia’s husband look weird to anyone else? Like he’d lost a load of weight very quickly? I almost didn’t recognise him
I spent long enough trying to work out if it was still Anthony Head playing Meg's husband. Can never remember what Julia's husband looks like at the best of times - which is probably half the point.him being unmemorable. Something about Anthony looked different. Maybe he's just starting to age.

Aw thank you for looking , I've gone on amazon prime and get this 🤣 it's just not meant to be
Ah sorry, I really should of checked it properly. Hopefully it pops back on a streaming service

I thought it looked like he'd had a bit of work done to his face. He looked different!

I liked it, there were some great bits but agree with previous comment about seeing more of Anne, did we know she was having twins in season 3? I’ve watched it a few times and can’t remember it
No we didn't know it was twins. I think she was quite newly pregnant when the season ended at Amanda's birthday party.

Re this Christmas Special, I struggle with Julia's increasingly more horrible personality the more the programme goes on. At the start she was a stressed working mum but she's really turned hideous in recent episodes. She constantly shouts at everyone, has zero empathy or affection for her kids, her husband, or any of the other characters and looks on the verge of a breakdown.

She has major anger issues. My least favourite character by a mile. Liz and Anne are fantastic though.

Julia was always a selfish shouty cow. She's always been this way I think. Always out for herself never anyone else.

I like Julia. She is stressy but her husband was awful in the first series and most of the second, she was in charge of all the adulting and trying to manage a busy FT job then launch a new business. Again with a totally disengaged husband, demanding in-laws and a mother who was disinterested. It’s no wonder she was on her last nerve. Her H only became a nice character after she developed a crush on the plumber. I think it was the same actor for her H but I agree that something looked off with him
