This is basically what I meant. Her dad will be more helpful to her in a business sense, which will help set her career apart from Molly's. I don't know if Molly's parents knew how to advise her on how to pick a manager. Gemma's father knows about these things. Gemma will be competing with Molly for deals but Gemma actually has access to far better advisors and resources. I didn't mean that he was irrelevant, only that she is relying more on his money and business acumen rather than her last name being being recognizable. If I met someone with the surname of Owen, I wouldn't immediately connect them to Michael Owen.

I don't think her name/Dad may mean much to the people her age, but her Dad is definitely a very successful entity and has a huge amount of money, and these things definitely have business influence.

Yep… having a famous footballer as a father will definitely give Gemma a leg up. She’ll have MMS audience but Owen as a father might help pull in a more general audience as he’ll have experience with marketing and what deals to take and what not to take…so Gemma might have a shot at the more mid-range fashion brands where as MM is stuck with the fast fashion. Also nepotism babies always seem to get attention… look at the Beckham kids…
 
Just wondering if someone with a famous and wealthy father would need to go on Love Island to start talking with advisors or whatever? I will be the first to admit I know nothing about Love Island…but from what friends say about it, it comes across as a trashy and desperate way to get insta famous, rather like Big Brother was. This explains why MM was on it, but not someone who already has money? Surely Gemma (a really normal name btw for a famous footballer, although I had to google who she was the daughter of!) wouldn’t need to stoop to reality tv like this to get a brand deal if she tried hard enough.

I think Gemma will need to find a personality if she's going to have any sort of longevity. She may well surpass Molly in popularity but like most influenzas, she'll deteriorate at the same rate as her lip fillers.

Someone mentioned this before but people usually go on LI for a quick fame boost and then unbeknownst to them, a short "career" before fading into irrelevance. I'm not sure that Gemma will be any different, it's just that Molly will fade away first.
 
Gemma's personality, that has been shown, is very similar to when MM was in the villa, and she must have shown something for so many to have pressed follow on Insta and TikTok, having said that personality on the outside of reality shows is completely overrated. It's far more important to have intelligence, business acumen and ultimately understand your market.

Due to her financial situation, she can afford to be selective in a way that others can't. She'll get a few big deals so won't be flogging everything from Home Bargains every day and she certainly won't be travelling to Southampton on Monday night doing a PA- Few deals at the top end.

I also think she'll stay tight with Ekin-Su which will be a great decision for both - let's be honest MM made the right call sticking with Maura(and vice-versa).

The long-term plan is obviously her beachwear brand, I wrote earlier that I really like the concept of expensive rather than cheap tat, that is everywhere. People laughed at Tommy Mallet when he started selling trainers for £150...they're not laughing now

gemma is as dull as dishwater and has brought nothing but an attitude to the show - it would have been exactly the same without her. every year since s5, we've heard "she's the new molly mae", and it's never happened. i think ekin and tasha are the only girls from this season who will stay relevant. if molly's worrying about any of them, it should be tasha, not gemma.
