I suppose we can say the Michael Kay channel is officially 100% dead and it’s now 100% true.
JourneyTogether will also fail.
First of all, it’s quite possibly the most unimaginative name he could have chosen.
Second, it may be a tough pill for him to swallow, but no one really cares about him outside of the Disney stuff. It’s not only what brought him to the dance, but it’s only reason anyone has ever payed attention. I think even his most hardcore stans only tolerate the other stuff while secretly craving more Disney. He isn’t compelling enough to be an “everything Vlogger”. This is what he doesn’t get. People don’t like Michael Kay, they like Michael Kay at Disney.
Third, as others have pointed out, based on his description it doesn’t sound like anything will be any different subject wise from what we have seen for the past 2 years or so. He has literally never been a “day-to-day” vlogger. What the actual duck is he talking about?
Fourth, if this does mean we will be seeing the misguided doctor in videos, I predict it will just be a giant cringe fest. Not that it isn’t already, but this will be a different kind of cringe. His interactions with other people, including family members, are so forced and awkward. Watching him with Adam the Woo was painful. And as much as we joke about it, I really don’t think prominently showcasing his fiancé/wife will sit well with a chunk of those hardcore stans I referred to earlier.
Fifth, his lack of transparency during all of this is just laughable. Does he owe us every single detail of what’s going on? No. But to just disappear and claim he can’t make videos because he’s taking care of a family member and then in another breath tell his patrons he has still been going to the parks a lot this whole time…which is it, dude? He unnecessarily buries himself in holes all the time. Not to mention, he only told Patreon about the family member. If you’re just a regular YouTube viewer who doesn’t give him money each month, you can basically go duck your self. And what’s he doing, sitting at a bedside every day providing 24/7 care? I doubt it. It’s either a lie, or an extreme exaggeration. Both are consistent with his personality.
Sixth, hardly anyone even watches anymore. He knows it, too. He sees the same numbers we do.
He probably sees this as a magic bullet to save everything. It won’t be.
