Genuinely, I'd be so surprised if the rumours are true. This year alone he has won the Masked Singer, he has mentored the winner of The Voice and they have sold out a massive UK arena tour for next year. He's doing alright for an ageing 00s popstar! It would make more sense for him to wait a few years, especially as McFly are going to run out of TV shows to take part in when their careers begin to decline! Also, he has a young son. And imagine how insufferable Georgia would be on Instagram if she was having to solo parent...

Having said all that, I hope the rumours are true and I think Danny would do really well!
I agree with you about Georgia. Initially I thought there would be no way she would agree to him being away and then I remembered she posted on insta the other day looking for places that deliver good meals as her and Danny will be on different work schedules for the next while and she doesn’t cook for herself when he’s not around 👀

Well I'd tune in to see him in the shower. 😂

Im a busted girly through and through and as luck would have it had booked the 1st and 2nd of november off work anyway as its the weekend of my sons birthday, I have a ticket for the 1st november and my hotel is all booked. Cant wait, never seen them before even after all these years, they were my first album and have a special place in my heart.
Me too first time seeing them and I'm so excited. I loved both of them Danny was gorgeous and for some reason I loved Tom but I loved more Busted songs than Mcfly and I think it was Charlie I fancied 😂

I was wondering if maybe he’s short of a few quid with all the reality tv 😂 I’ve seen quite a few ads on his insta as well lately, not sure if that’s normal for him though and I just haven’t noticed previously

Obviously making money is a factor but he did have this whole thing about not turning anything down because of past regrets and wanting to enjoy the opportunities that come his way

I think they’re all taking what they can get so that they can stop mcfly soon, I said it before but they’ll either be saving up to just retire completely or taking opportunities in the hope they can just do tv appearances once mcfly is over

I disagree. Look how Danny and Harry were when the band were on a hiatus. They both said they didn't know who they were without the band. Tom turned to writing, and Dougie turned to other bands but said it wasn't the same. Mcfly isn't ending any time soon. They'll go as long as they can. They have no reason to stop

How many more one night only shows can they sell out at the o2? I think they knew without a joint busted tour they wouldn’t have been able to sell it out again. They haven’t had a song in top 20 since 2013.
Perhaps they’ll keep it going as a hobby for their existing fan base and their children but they’ve probably realised it just isn’t a huge money maker for them anymore, the TV appearances are less effort and worth more.
I was a huge mcfly fan but haven’t been bothered about their most recent albums, I’m bored of them as a nostalgia act as well and I know I’m not the only person. I went to two one night only shows but didn’t bother with their birthday one because it’s just the same thing each time.

You can say that but I think the way it’s just constantly one night at the O2 it makes it seem like they’re after a quick buck. If they were about “the band” they’d play smaller venues, maybe more regularly, and at smaller price points.

Exactly, one big show at the o2 is less effort than a smaller venue tour and it just seems like they don’t want to put the effort in anymore

Disagree about not wanting to put in effort, the last couple of years they’ve done LOTS of small festivals/venues which would have had them travelling lots.
Also disagree Danny “needs” the money. Always nice to have more money of course but to even hint that he may be short of a few £ is laughable really considering he has had steady work outside of McFly for a number of years eg the voice, masterchef. He’s definitely loaded.

I thought they played smaller venues with the Power to Play tour last year, which wasn’t a nostalgia cash grab. They played at random smaller venues/festivals this year as well didn’t they?

And their last tour was in 2021 before that, which wasn’t just at the o2 IIRC?

Maybe I’ve missed something but I don’t think they’ll retire in their late 30s haha, they’ll just go on hiatus again but they don’t seem to be stopping anytime soon. Did any of us even expect them to still be making music and touring 20+ years on? 😅

I don’t know if this is aimed at my comment but I didn’t say he ‘needs’ the money, he wouldn’t be doing the tv appearances if he didn’t ‘want’ the money though. Its smart to show you are interested in doing other things than promoting your band and if they want to stop doing mcfly permanently or temporarily perhaps he’s trying to make the extra money to be able to do that.

Also, bands don’t make that much money from touring alone, it still stands that they haven’t had a top 20 single since 2013, power to play got to number 2 but an album in the top 10 isn’t as difficult as it used to be, as long as you push physical sales over streams which is easier for artists who already have a fan base.
The festivals and racecourses were all booked as a nostalgia band, people who aren’t loyal fans would have been there to see the hits.
If they want to keep going as a current band then they really need to be focussing on one or the other in my opinion.

They've become album bands, which is fine because a lot of more mainstream bands and legacy bands have become the same over time

The 21st anniversary shows were different to the previous one night only stuff. Doug said the plan was to mark the occasion and not drag it on. The original plan was to do it for the 20th but they couldn't because of the P2P tour, which wasn't one night at the o2

They did that with the P2P tour. And how much more regularly do you want them to tour? They've toured almost every year for 21 years, which is more than any other band I can think of

Apart from when they had their hiatus
