Maura Higgins

Anyone listen to her Podcast?Almost 2 hears long so wondering is it worth it😅

l listened to all of it(I shocked myself ...as I get easily bored at anything). Lots of interesting stuff there that she hasn't talked about before(and some she has, but in more depth here).

Stuff about her childhood, her friends death, parents divorce, falling out with her father, a breakdown of sorts after Love Island due to overwork/no sleep & contemplation of suicide(with a friend calling her agent behind her back that she had to have a break, as she was so worried about her). A bit of stuff about Curtis and Chris(nothing too harsh). How she essentially went on Love Island as a chaotic revenge tour on her ex boyfriend, as she found out he cheated on her... but she kept up the pretense of a relationship (as he was in LA) while signing up to Love Island, intending not to let him know he was dumped until she appeared on the show (but the producers were worried about what he might say to the press if she did that, so in the end, she dumped him prior).

Certainly worth a watch/listen as it's really the only in depth interview she has given (a link to the youtube video interview is on her insta stories).

I came to this thread because someone recommended the podcast to me. It was a great interview. The podcast host is a brilliant interviewer , he created such a safe atmosphere.

I came away with a lot of respect for Maura. She has essentially been totally independent since 17. No well off Mammy and Daddy to give all the little leg ups that matter so much in life. Everything she has she has earned it herself. Emotionally she has been through a lot too. A really great listen

Was a great interview and totally agree that guy was amazing, great manners about him and very keen to draw out the best answers from her. Some of her answers were a little disappointing though, replying wow I don't know to alot of big questions,I appreciate you are on the spot and she was very raw and honest but in parts it was annoying for her to reply I don't know to some great questions.

It's a good point , but on the flipside , shes never done a deep interview, nor has she been in any kind of therapy (where those kind of questions would be common)

I'd certainly prefer that to answers that have been overly considered beforehand.

She’s quite scary looking on that podcast

I appreciated the rawness and honesty in her interview, but a few things stood out to me. Her old teacher definitely seemed horrible and old-fashioned, but her suggestion that learning Irish and history is "irrelevant" came across as dismissive of her own country’s language and culture. Also, she mentioned that moving in with a boyfriend at 17 is "normal" in small Irish towns, which isn't entirely accurate. Many girls from a similar background as her tend to pursue third level education and typically move in with partners at a later stage. This interview seemed to be a rare opportunity for her to reflect, and I hope it encouraged her to consider speaking with a therapist, as she’s clearly had an eventful life.

Surprised this hasn't been updated since she's in the jungle.

She's been brilliant in the jungle
Probably because I'm a Celeb has its own thread.

I thought she was a great camp mate- she was hilarious in luxurious camp with Rev Richard ("sorry fadher" 😁) and good in the trials.

It's funny on Unpacked Joel keeps making jokes about Maura & Pete and poor Sam is sitting there but can't say anything
