I think in the majority of couples, they’ve picked a woman who has been seriously hurt - and yes, why would you go on it if you had been, lots of us have been hurt - I physically hurt for my ex at times.. and that’s no excuse for what we’ve seen. But I do think that it’s led to a self sabotage type behaviour where they want to prevent themselves getting ‘mugged off’ on tv - especially the women who are nearer 30 and above - so much is still expected of women by a certain age weirdly. Self sabotage doesn’t equal narcissism/bullying etc. and I certainly would be guarded was it me up there, but never nasty to a partner who was committed as they have been in the ceremonies. Whitney-witch and April are questionable for why they bothered to apply, but as much as I dislike Jess, I think she might at least learn/grow up from the experiment if nothing else, and I think Jenna will grow up and be alongside lovely lovely Zoe in the end. Similarly Ritchie is willing to learn and Lara is willing to adapt so I hold hope there.
Call me a hopeless romantic at the end of the season when it’s gone tits up, but only if someone passes on George’s number to me first😜🥰

On the topic of Whitney and the dead mum excuse. Both my parents are dead within the last few years, plus My lifelong step-dad. My dad died on the anniversary of my mum’s death even, just to make that day extra fun. I’ve still never though it gave me right to be a bleep to people.

Whatever her issues in life or with men or with the show, it costs nothing to be decent. It’s not like she was forced on the show. There’s not being into your “marriage”, and then there’s treating your husband like absolute tit for no reason. I don’t blame him if he’s lost his cool and said some tit things behind the scenes. She decided she hated everything about everything before she even got to the wedding.

my worry with ritchie and lara is that we’re going to end up in a luke and morag situation where one partner (lara) is told to continually make accommodations and allowances for the other (ritchie) and the experts keep telling them they’re making great “progress” even though one of them is obviously unhappy. lara’s eyes at the ceremony were still saying “help me” imo 🤣

she seems a great lady but what she said on the honeymoon was legit and still relevant - she needed a man, worldly and experienced, who was able to protect and look out for her so she could actually relax and be taken care of. a george or pjay type may have been decent. as it is, she is always going to be smothered by ritchie while being told she’s exactly what he needs and whatnot. he might be a thoughtful guy but he’s just not able to meet her on her level. i feel for her.

Love gogglebox! but personal comments especially re appearance just can’t sit well with me especially when they were knowingly said to an audience.. I’m usually straight talking, like a joke etc but didn’t think Thomas was ok to say those before he’d built a relationship at least.. (just my opinion re that though, his later comment about being more Solange killed me ☠️)
