You are absolutely right. However, I do believe that thanks to recent historical dominance, outflow of media and culture, the rest of the world has a better grip on the West than the West does on what makes the rest of the world tick.

Mass immigration is a big societal problem for Europe, but I don’t believe it’s going to stop because there’s no political will or ability.

I think it will eventually lead to right wing governments seizing power across Europe.
 
And people who have spent the past few years either parroting far right talking points or actively ignoring their rise will shake their head in faux bewilderment and sorrow. But if you think they'll stop at migrants and Muslims, you are very much mistaken. As proven in Magdeburg.

I’d rather that than the disaster of the left wing power if I’m honest. It’s now becoming totally unsustainable. Also tired of hearing that immigrants contribute so much. Maybe at one time but I’m not seeing it now. Thousands of homeless and tents all over the place. What a cesspit it’s all becoming

Far right. for me, is synonymous with violence, and the tolerance for the death (literal or metaphoric) of the 'opponent', whoever that may be. Right wing governments expect you to respect the police; the far right will attack them. They will attempt to dismantle justice systems. They will kill you (or your institutions) in whole or in part. They will try to suppress you. They don't care for fairness, or the rule of law. The ends (ie their supremacy) justify the means.

I think a huge problem is that there seems to be the general idea that left wing = pro-uncontrolled immigration. I don't think this is fundamentally true.

I vote for 'left-wing' parties because I believe in a strong welfare system, a world-class (free at delivery) health system, well-funded public services, quality free education and state-contributed programmes that give children the best start in life. After 15 years of watching the Tories pull that apart, I'll never vote for them. But I also believe our immigration has to be controlled and 'cherry-picked' so that that system works, and integration needs to be an integral part of any immigration. It's a politically homeless place to be at the moment.

People don't look at the bigger picture, imo. No one wants to leave their country, their home, their family - least of all to end up a migrant living in a tent or making a dangerous journey for asylum. Imperialism is an ouroboros of making other countries poor / unliveable / generally hostile environments, and then blaming the people affected for *having* to flee. Climate change is making it worse, as is the arms trade, through which the billionaires make their billions.

I don't care what excuses they make for him. He is a murderous, wicked bastard. These particular muslims trying to blame his mental health are worried that the tide is turning against uncontrolled immigration. They should be - people in the west are sick of welcoming those from a different culture, only to have the immigrants do their best to undermine the laws and culture of the country the enter, making no attempt to integrate - on the contrary, living by their own country of origin's laws which are often diametrically opposed to those of the west.

No country can sustain this sort in rapid increase in population even at the best of times. The economy and infrastructure can't cope with it, even if every one of them was a genuine refugee looking for a decent life.

Anyone who works in the public sector and local government knows that current levels of immigration are unsustainable because we don't have the infrastructure or housing stock available.
Putting people into hotels wasn't done in the first place because the local authority was being kind, it was because there was nowhere else to send them unless we start handing out tents.
Many local governments are in huge financial trouble now and the main strain on their budgets is adult social care and housing. Local authorities don't have enough housing stock available to move people to.
 
I also think we’ve got to be real. The majority of immigrants aren’t fleeing from anything. They’re making hay while the sun shines with Western wealth. They don’t WANT to assimilate to Western behaviour. They don’t even like Westerners. You only have to pootle around various forums and social media to see that.

The general population are sympathising ourselves into decline. I said this on another thread; immigration in itself is not bad if it is of nationalistic benefit. However, mass immigration is a Ponzi scheme. It is a huge tax, wealth and property transfer to banks, corporations and private investment portfolios. Global ones. You just need to look at what’s involved from getting a person to Europe and settling them there to see that.
