FYI the box is called a super and the box where the queen lays her eggs is called a brood box or some people call it a brooder. Personally, when I order boxes, I call them a 9 frame (deep or regular) or a 10 frame (deep or regular). I use 10 frame size but only put 9 frames in it so that there is more space between the frames for the bees to huddle and stay warm. If Ali knew anything he would know that bees swarm for other reasons than there isn't enough room (indicating the colony is at capacity) like not happy with the location, not enough nectar sources close by, or another queen has developed. Without first-hand knowledge I would just say his bees are dysfunctional, bad strain. He should have destroyed the hives/colonies 2 years ago, waited a year while he developed more good nectar plants close by, and then bought all new. Order both a queen and bees that are known to be docile. I wonder if he has the hive positioned so the entrance is facing the prevailing winds which would make the hive colder in the winter. Our prevailing winds come from the west/SW in the warmer months and out of the north/NW or west in the colder months. Winds can come from any direction, but you try to eliminate and protect the hives from the winds that will rob the hive of warmth or blow in rain. My hives behind the barn face east and the remaining hives all face south/SE. I read an article the other day that said bees recognize people. That is bad for Ali because bees associate his goofy a$$ face with the hive being needlessly disturbed. We have yet to open our hives this spring/summer because we have been very busy. The Gardener suggested removing the frames from the top box, put in fresh empty frames, and store the honey filled frames in plastic totes until winter when we have time to spin them down. All the hives have plenty of action and right now there appears to be no problems.Ali and bees are a combination that should NEVER, EVER, EVER have been made.

When will she realize that if your feet are an exaggerated shape (as hers are) you cannot force them into another exaggerated shape (pointy toe shoes) and expect them to be comfortable.
