Why does she have to convince Ali to change the lights. If my bf was a tradesman he’d be jumping at the chance to fix soemthing for cheaper. If I can save money but learning myself or having my qualified partner do it why not … I do think this about most of their renovation work surely Ali could’ve done a lot of stuff?

Exactly. He makes such a big deal about changing out lights. I don't think he is into physical work. His little pale hands can't handle the abuse of actual work. I used tools every day for 33 years and I just get the feeling when I see him hold a tool in his hand that it is not a natural thing for him. Ali is a lot like Lydiot in that he makes a BIG deal out of little things. Truth be told, in my house I would do that myself and probably not even disable the circuit if the light is on a switch. If it's a ceiling light, then both of us will install it because we both have shoulder problems. Also, the fact that she said they don't have a gardener means that it was definitely Ali who made the lawn stripey. No one uses a drop spreader anymore. Even broadcast spreader have an adjustable shield when broadcasting right next to a flowerbed, etc. They really missed the opportunity to learn and to make content. Ali and Lydiot are not going to be happy in their 50's and onward, when reality smacks them in the face and they realize that they will have to work until their last breath because they wasted so much $$$$ in their 30's. Neither one is going to inherit a lot of wealth. Ali has brothers to share inheritance and Lydiot has a brother, half-sister, and a second wife to split the $$$. The money could all go to the current Mrs. Millen with nothing for the first two children as they are already secure (or so they think).
