Lucy Letby Case #77

For those who included their name and address (so Lucy could write back to them) they could produce a database of potentially dangerous freaks

Brian, the man encouraging people to send Lucy a Christmas card, seems a bit weird with his public campaign on the illuminati and whatever a DID adult is.

DID is dissociative identity disorder. There's probably a kernel of truth in the condition but has been blown up into a massive online community of attention seeking weirdos - the basic premise is that due to appalling abuse while your identity is forming as a child you learn to dissociate as a coping mechanism (something that definitely happens) but because your identity isn't fully formed you have a persona you 'become' if triggered and this new identity only holds memories of when it's active and the main persona doesn't remember anything about what happens.

This was co opted by the um, tumblr otherkin therin fantasists ? for lack of a better term, and became rife online with people claiming they were systems of complete personalities who took turns piloting the body and all talking to each other in some inner headspace. Because the abuse that's required to not form any real identity is very severe (like life threatening on a regular basis severe) for allllll these people to be suffering from DID has to be wide scale. Which is why the satanic child abuse people have latched on, I assume.

Personally if someone is talking about DID without a ton of caveats I tend to dismiss them 🤷‍♀️

“With proper experts” how genuinely insulting. These poor parents having their babies deaths being used for fame/political agendas makes me sick

I hadn’t picked up on his phrase there but it’s appalling. He’s clearly in contact with key Letby supporters as Crapton is the first one to report on this. Science editor branching into politics now 🙄Wonder which of them he is mates with.

I checked the House of Commons schedule and it’s listed as an ‘adjournment’ debate which I had to look up. It’s only a half hour debate at end of each day. There will be no decisions / actions from it so nothing will come of it. Will be fairly interesting to see what other MPs say, if they hang around for it. I expect the relevant minister won’t want to interfere with justice system so will be diplomatic in response.

I feel like it’s implied in the article he got this urgently because he wants to put pressure on CCRC, however any MP wanting to have a debate applies on a Wednesday for the following week.

Mark McDonald looks exactly the same...what's wrong with them?

Letby's parents are Narcissistic, they are definitely involved

I’m praying that’s the reason for the press conference. I don’t know why you would call a press conference to say ‘we are going to do this’ rather than ‘we have done this’.

I imagine the court judges won’t take too kindly to this approach though.

I keep wondering whether the amount of discussion around her convictions would make it more or less likely they will proceed with charges. Her team can hardly argue she wouldn’t receive a fair trial when they are the ones with the loudest voices since July. But I would worry that it’s possibly prejudicial in her favour now.

CPS may see it in the public interest to proceed because of how many are voicing doubt. It would give the opportunity for yet another jury to not accept the new defence and experts. Evans wouldn’t be involved in a new trial so the argument against him wouldn’t stand anymore either. It would almost have the same impact as an appeal but with no risk of her current convictions being overturned, if that makes sense.
If Letby faces further charges, the jury would almost certainly be very aware of the fact people are claiming she is innocent and needs a retrial.
I wonder how that would factor in.

A new trial would cost the public purse millions and you would need enough evidence to undermine all the convictions. The public has been treated to a press conference and fed misleading information making a fair trial impossible. The first trial had many experts but the truthers like pretend Dr Evans came up with it all on his own.
If they did get a new trial then is it possible the new charges could be heard at the same time.

The thing I don't understand about the NGers is how they expect to overturn all the convictions, which each comes with a whole life sentence. Even if they get a couple thrown out, she's still banged up for life.

Are they hoping to find a universal legal issue that somehow undermines a) every case presented in the first trial (remembering that she was found NG of some charges) and b) the second trial, which didn't even involve Dewi Evans? They've already tried that twice at the Court of Appeal for both trials. Not liking the verdicts doesn't count.

Then there's the issue of the spike in neonatal deaths. If they weren't caused by Letby, then a massive police investigation is completely wrong. A bunch of babies died or were irrevocably harmed during their time at CoCH - so what caused it? Please show your workings WITH EVIDENCE.

And also how do they explain the weird stuff about her like the handover sheets, her behaviour, the change in the timings of deaths when she changed shift patterns or went on holiday etc etc. Plus the new evidence that's come to light during the enquiry about the behaviour of the hospital management to cover up the fact there was an issue.

It baffles me that intelligent people like Phil Hammond (not including David Davis and Nadine Dorries, who are not smart) can't see that these questions need to be answered.

Throughout this case people have looked at the young, blonde, smiling nurse and declared it impossible for her to be a baby murderer and therefore discounted all the evidence. It started with some of the hospital staff and then moved to the truthers.

It's a complicated case made up of many parts. Most people dont look at it anyway enough depth to actually have an opinion that counts. Listening to the crimescene 2 youtube video you can see the detail that went into BNE summoning up speech. I didn't realise that air could be seen in the great vessels on child O on the X Ray.

A number of people have been grumbling about convicted serial killer nurses for many years - namely statisticians. Now added to this we have a variation on Missing White Woman Syndrome - none of the previous nurse killers had this wider appeal - noone was really interested in the other murderers. The statisticians were preparing for this even before the trial - they published a paper on nurse serial killers before the trial which they sent to the prosecution and defence but which seems to have been ignored. During the trial this group of statisticians were warned by the police over potential contempt of court - they've whipped up hysteria over the case. Added to this we have a populist movement that grew during COVID which frames things in terms of "the people" vs state/establishment/doctors/experts. It's a perfect storm.

Letby has had 2 appeals denied. Shes had her shot, that's it.

She can now spend the next decade+ going through the CCRC, which will also be a fruitless endeavour.

yes I don't for one moment expect the appeal to be allowed but I think she will get a full hearing

I can't imagine how this must affecting the parents and the police who spent years gathering evidence. It makes me sick reading these reports and I can't stand the sight of McDonald ugly, bloated face and Davis' smarmy face. I wonder what top KC Myers thinks listening to this fourth division barrister trying to make him look incompetent.

There will be about 10 people in there listening to him drone on...a total waste of time basically.

Ben Myers knows that when push comes to shove they will have the same evidence to work with that he did and they won't be able to get to stick in court either.

The government have spent millions on the Letby trials, appeals, inquiry not mention operation Hummingbird which has more charges in the pipe line. So without very strong new evidence I doubt David Davis will get far. Operation Hummingbird really needs to complete before a retrial can be considered anyway.
