How much of the show do we actually think is scripted? Like are the producers going in the villa and setting up conversations all the time??Yes and he gave her a massage - it’s all so scripted yet I can’t not watch it
I don’t think the producers go in. They have a voice on a tannoy that speaks to them all the time I thinkHow much of the show do we actually think is scripted? Like are the producers going in the villa and setting up conversations all the time??
I googled Niall today as I’m on season 4 again he said he was told who to talk too, and was told no when he asked to speak to some others girls - he went out on day 9 with mental health issues I quite like this series some are very real and some are interesting .How much of the show do we actually think is scripted? Finally caught up (with the thread that is I've all but given up on the actual show!!! Jeezo it's dull)
....I'm only hanging on by a thread for a daily dose of my stud muffin big C
Anyhoo, saw this the other day and oh my god my heart hurts!!!! this was him telling her he wants her back, but just in his so-laid-back-hes-horrizontal-way that I either think she missed it!! Or she thought he was just saying it/not meaning it... Orr it wasn't the big bold grand gesture of undying love/I can't live without you type declaration she was hoping for
Anyway, as far as I'm concerned They absolutely 100% still love eachother I DONT CARE WHAT ANYONE SAYS

I agree with this! Season 1, 2 we’re my absolute faves along with 3 but I feel the islanders in this series had seen the success of the previous series look at the work cara, Olivia, Alex etc was getting. After season 3 I felt like it was more that people went in for a career but looking back I feel like 4 & 5 were still enjoyable and then it started getting so set up with asking for chats etc!And it was less scripted back then that it is even now, so that shows how bad it is more recently!
I hated s4 at the time cos it felt so much more fake and staged than previously, but now comparing s4+5 to s7 onwards, they seem so much better by comparison.
I honestly think about this a lot! Like what are they actually doing differently to S4 and 5 when it's the same set up but they still feel so vastly different??
I can't work out if it's just the piss poor casting of more lately plus the fact everyone is more 'media savvy' etc I dunno but it's just all contributing towards it dying a death basically.

okay so my personal opinion is that the format changed for the following reasons:
- having no smoking area, the first three series had a lot of the islanders gossiping and having real genuine chats around the smoking area! There wasn’t as much of a need to ‘pull’ people for a chat because they were naturally doing that while smoking! I feels more set up and fake going up to people and asking for a chat because it’s not how we work in the real world. I’m sure on season 4 there’s a clip where Georgia is kicking off or upset and dani runs after her and they run past the front door where you see jacks smoking and he quickly comes in to find dani. I remember some interviews they said they could only go out and smoke on their own because of how much it has been in the previous series.
- I think the audience of the first love islands were around my age + (in my 30’s) we remember love island when it was originally on with Callum best and the excitement for it to come back. But we weren’t the sort of audience that would make love island money other than viewing figures. I feel like love island then became more appealing for the younger audience (you won’t see them having sex, they name anything to do with sex cringey things like have you graduated) there was loads of love island merchandise, I’m sure there was a love island event where people paid for tickets to do meet and greets, seeing this in the life after love island thing you can see how young the people there are, it’s mainly teens, they’re the ones who were paying for merchandise, paying to meet islanders etc so I feel love island has altered how it is to suit a younger audience.

Another thing is that the bigger it’s got, there’s sponsors and advertising etc. the way they film it is to show certain products and whoever has sponsored them. I remember one year they were doing boots ads from the villa! I just think where it’s so huge now, people are going in for the game it’s like with big brother the first years we’re brilliant and by the end people knew what they were signing up for and there was an alteria motive
