Another thing I wish they’d change is when there’s a public vote to vote off your least fav … then the islanders decide who they want to stay so your public vote means f all. Just not let the islanders have a say! So predictable when they save their best mates.
The only time I don’t really mind this so much is when they have to choose one girl and one boy to go. It gets extremely tedious when they do it all the time though.

So love island are stepping away from fast fashion and pairing up with eBay this year. That is such a great move!
I’m confused why people on twitter are acting like Brett( the twerp from last year ) seems to be behind the decision. Did I miss something ? I know he protested against the molly Mae PLT show but how is he getting the praise.
I hope this year is epic and I never hear about 99% of these islanders again
To be fair to Brett he turned down all the clothes offered while in the Villa, constantly posts about recycling clothes and always wearing Secondhand clothes. He seems to me to be a really good advocate for getting people to think about the cheap, throw away clothes they are wearing and try and wear more sustainable clothes.

The pandering of Itv to Faye made me hate the show. She was a toxic bully who did not deserve to come third.
The producers completely changed their rules to suit her and I would half get why people are such fans of her if Teddy was likeable because he would redeem her a bit, but he isn’t

I’ve never watched love island before, but will be glued this time as I know one of the rumoured contestants and I’m honestly not sure how she’s going to come across 😬
Oh who is it??

But was Faye ever in the bottom two? I can’t recall her being in one. Apart from the two times she and teddy were up for public vote against Lucinda and Aaron and the public voted for her and teddy more

They always manipulated how the voting would work to keep her in. After her meltdowns it would be a vote for voting out the least fave boy or something like that. The reason her behaviour got so bad was that she thought the public loved her.
Tbh I couldn’t care less. I’ve seen worse on that show

They need to start doing public votes for who we want to dump. Part of the reason the newer seasons got so dull is because it was always "vote for who you want to save" which skewed it against new islanders. Newer islanders have never had the same opportunity for the audience to get emotional invested in their arc, so few people will put in the effort to vote for them. Votes for who we want to leave would be a better reflection of what we do/don't want to see happening. And it would make the results much less predictable so more entertaining.

More booze would be good, plus the smoking area and a hot tub. The producers need to cast stirrers and villains also grow up and stop trying to pander to the Twitter mob because Twitter will never be happy. It’s just virtue signalling echo chamber desperate to find something “ problematic“.

I think they could do away with the choosing bit at the beginning and just let things happen by organising dates etc with those not coupled up in a week at risk.

They’re kind of stuck though aren’t they because so many viewers moaned about the smoking and as said above the smokers tend to just stay there constantly.

As for booze, I wouldn’t expect them to let them get hammered but I don’t think it would work if they even gave them a few extra drinks. The minute someone hooks up after a few drinks the woke police will be out, there’ll be calls of sexual harassment etc. it would be a disaster. Whether it’s five drinks or three the public* will blame the drink as soon as a favourite does something they don’t agree with or hooks up with whoever this years male villain/gaslighter is.

*by public I mean that probably small but loud percentage who spend all their time onto ofcom.

I’m starting LI from S1 and they did used to get pretty wasted it seemed, so entertaining but I guess it was a different time.
Totally agree with it being a disaster, shows that air on MTV like ex on the beach have dissolved into violent chaos with the introduction of alcohol and it’s just not the family friendly image ITV want for their show, which I do understand…

going so far back and watching this from the first season seeing the girls only have one pair of sandals and about 3 bikinis each, the majority had “normal” jobs and no real expectations about fame, it really makes me wonder about the longevity of love island as a “reality” show now…

The things is, they can get around the drink limit in some ways. There were a number of instances last series when I remember Kaz and especially Chloe being a bit drunk because the other girls had clearly let them have their drink allocation for the night. They can’t really police it.

All of this.

Others replies above about smoking etc, yeh they stopped it because of getting backlash after the show really took off in series 3/2017, because of the huge rise in popularity and appealing to young people they had to be seen to be taking responsibility, but it affected the feel of the show massively; and negatively, because it became so much less natural and more scripted - because they weren't just filming them sitting around chatting normally, but only allowing 1 contestant at a time to go smoke so they can't chat off air, and therefore all conversations had to be done when back in front of cameras... Uugh it just spoilt it in so many ways the feel of it becoming so staged & scripted & forced 😣

I feel like, if someone's so young to be so impressionable to be influenced in regards to smoking etc then they probably shouldn't be watching in the first place!

Like if it's that big of a deal, why can't they air it later ffs!!

Mann I just want a decent love island or big brother from back in the good days, is it so much to ask!!! 😩 Lol

(edit to add- and from before the world was headfucked over by social media/Instagram twatspo🙄🙄...
And overly unnecessary P.C.ing ugh)
