I do wonder sometimes if this is the ‘Joey Essex’ reality tv effect, where they believe it makes you more popular, dare I say relatable to the more intellectually challenged from the producers’ perspective. I actually think it started with the phenomenon that was Jade Goody.

Yeah probably but Jade Goody was genuinely a bit thick and I loved her for it. Joey Essex is not in any way stupid and I hate that he pretends he is. When he comes on the tv I switch it over. Hate him!!

Ok, so I've just watched the Unseen Bits with Priya. Now I totally understand why she was so confident nominating herself (and Brett) as the smartest islander the other day! As much as it annoyed me at the time, it now makes sense! "I didn't know the Sun was a star!"

Unpopular opinion but other than jake I don't think anyone is really that calculated to mess up other relationships to try and win as much as everyone makes out. I think it's more they wanted to be liked by the public and are worried about how they might be perceived

Yeah I first noticed it when I was a teenager and Paris Hilton was really popular, but I'm sure it was going on long before that as well. Some people like Jade Goody are a bit dim and that's OK, we all have our own strengths, but behaving as if stupidity is something aspirational really pisses me off.

Yes that’s exactly what I mean, people saw JG getting headlines all over the media for saying things like ‘I thought East Angular?(sic) was abroad’ , saw the money she earned and so tried to copy it (especially if they were from Essex). JG for all her faults didn’t copy anyone, the rest of them have in the hope of making £££. Bad taste.
