Came here to say the same! Why wouldn't cats be allowed on the sofa?? So weird. Don't get pets if you don't like them on your stuff.

In fairness I don't want my dog stinking up or scratching my sofa 😂 he's allowed on the sofa in the conservatory but knows not to go on the one in the living room which we only use some evenings. He's got a big comfy bed, dunno how you'd even train a cat not to jump up.

I can understand not wanting pets on the furniture, but to allow them in her bed, but not on the sofa is odd.
You can't train cats to stay off furniture really. They will 100% just do it when you're not there / not looking. Honestly most cats will do it even when you are looking... The only way to teach cats not to do something and them actually remember is to basically traumatise them out of doing it by spraying them with water. Or spraying everything in your home with cat repellant. So if you want pets not on your furniture then cats are not the right pet...
