Meringue with mango is hardly fine dining is it?

My friend is the same weight/body shape as Louise and has been advised by her doctor recently that she needs a knee replacement. She cried her eyes out about it but still won't face the reality that her excess weight is what caused the need for her knee to be replaced. I wouldn't be surprised if Louise ends up that way as well. I'm all for body confidence and body neutrality but there is a societal cost to obesity. Not all, but a lot of health conditions are brought on or worsened by excess weight. I have to bite my tongue a lot so I'm not accused of being fatphobic but the Irish healthcare system is already severely struggling and an increasingly obese population will strain it even further.I'm so sorry you had that experience, whenever people behave like that nastily towards others it always means they're incredibly negative and unhappy in their own head - it's a complete reflection on her and not you. Happy people seep happiness. I've seen her in person and she was struggling to walk properly without shuffling a bit with her weight, if you physically feel that slowed down and crap it's going to affect your mind.
I’m not obese so I don’t have any skin in the game but the state of the health service is a real problem in this country and it’s not the fault of the fat people. Skinny people get sick too by the way. and smokers and non smokers. Drinkers and teetotallers. It’s not the fault of a single cohort of society that our health service has been managed poorly for decades now. No amount of funding can seem to fix it.My friend is the same weight/body shape as Louise and has been advised by her doctor recently that she needs a knee replacement. I’m not sure if this is in response to my comment, I don’t really understand it, does society expect everyone to be the same size now and if you’re not it’s a duck you to society?! I’m no fan of Louise but you can live in any size body you want.True re health service but pretending that being fat is merely a lifestyle choice or duck you to societal expectations doesn’t help anyone?

Is Louise sick or something? The point is - if a person won’t take personal responsibility for their health choices be that through excessive eating, smoking or drinking or whatever, then they shouldn’t expect the state to.
Exactly this. The likes of Louise makes excuses, blames and resents the world for her size - anyone but herself. Tis all society’s fault of course. The point is - if a person won’t take personal responsibility for their health choices be that through excessive eating, smoking or drinking or whatever, then they shouldn’t expect the state to.
Live in any size body YOU want ABSOLUTELY! But don’t moan then about size inclusivity & companies not pandering to YOUR personal choice.I’m not sure if this is in response to my comment, I don’t really understand it, does society expect everyone to be the same size now and if you’re not it’s a duck you to society?! Very slippery slope - should someone not be provided cancer treatment through the HSE for lung cancer if they’ve smoked all their life? The point is - if a person won’t take personal responsibility for their health choices be that through excessive eating, smoking or drinking or whatever, then they shouldn’t expect the state to.
Louise complaining about everything is entirely separate to society expecting everyone to be the same size. Louise complains about everything, day in day out, usually her kids. That’s just Louise. It’s not every fat person just because it’s Louise. Size really is the last basis of discrimination that is widely accepted, society doesn’t expect everyone to be straight anymore thankfully but you better not be fat!Live in any size body YOU want ABSOLUTELY! Everything can’t be geared around fat people, no more than it geared around ‘too’ skinny people.
Well you can’t if you’re fat is what you are saying. Society isn’t accommodating for lots of people, eg. people in wheelchairs, people with sensory issues, people who can’t read or write. But they can get excited about free doughnuts and society still largely won’t be accommodating for them. The anti-fat bias is real. You can't celebrate getting free donuts and then complain that society isn't built for you.
