I really love Perries voice normally but i heard DFAU on the radio today and it just felt too much, the verses were fine but the chorous felt a bit too shouty and i realised its not something I want to listen to on loop whereas I would actually listen to the other 2 girls ( dont count jesy) consecutively
 
i honestly think that perrie's music is totally fine, there's just nothing interesting about it which doesn't shock me because I've always thought she was the least interesting personality in the group, although she seems absolutely lovely but her music is just kinda bland and faceless. she's such a talented vocalist so i'd love to see her come out with something that she actually seems passionate about instead of a 2016 ed sheeran reject.
 
Given Perrie and Jade are under the same label, I do wonder a bit if they were both presented/encouraged to do your standard pop sound. If that was the case I could easily imagine Perrie going with it as she seems to go with the sound provided to her rather than having a real passion or push for a specific sound.
Jade on the other hand seems to have the passion and songwriting chops to demand more autonomy for herself.

my usual VPN tricks aren't working today 😭 but I have heard the clips floating around on twitter and she does sound great! i've always thought she was the most interesting vocalist in the band so it's a nice little treat to get to hear something that shows that off so soon into her solo career!

finally got to listen to the whole thing and !!! she sounds incredible! i actually think this version can stand completely on it's own, I know they probably wont but I hope her team gets this a spot on NMF UK to help with the streams. i feel like people that think the original is too chaotic and hyperpop but loved the chorus will really enjoy this!

edit; can't wait to stream this so much tomorrow that she goes number 1 in the US

I know I said it sounded like there'd be remixes coming when it first dropped, but the girl's played that assumption damned well. She's forcing attention to stay on her debut single. Clever marketing.
