Life on Mars / Ashes to Ashes

Matthew Graham has said the new series will be “set partially in the 70's, partially in the 80's and mostly in an alternate NOW.“ whatever the hell that means 😂

In all honestly I don’t think the actors would return unless it was worth returning to and there was a solid script and story. I get the impression John Simm in particular wouldn’t be keen unless it was really really good. He seems quite set in his roles and a pretty serious guy. I’m so excited I really hope the entire original cast return like Annie, Ray, Chris etc.

I think it was the gruff manliness and those leatheer gloves he used to wear haha I would sit there perving on him every episode.

Keeley has such a gorgeous face and figure, i wish we couldve seen Alex and Gene get it on haha

Loved it, weird ending to Ashes to Ashes though

I think it is an hour of the best TV I have seen. The last 2 episodes are simply stunning.
I found it very sad very human. The overwhelming feeling of doom that crept up through the last one.
I had guessed at part of the ending but Shaz's story was the most heartbreaking to me
But against all that was the simplicity of Gene and his its the way of the world bolly she'll be alright comment
Sad melancholy but super telly

Just started watching Ashes again. It gives me that fluttery tummy feeling because I love it so much 😂 that first episode is so good. The music the atmosphere, Genes entrance. It’s so much fun. The pace is so different to Life on Mars. Remember Sam entering the station and it’s all slow mo and smoke filled. Ashes is so vibrant. I love how they made the eras so different.

The only issue I have is introducing Alex, dressing her like a high class prostitute and making Gene the “hero” right form the beginning. They didn’t need to use her as eye candy she’s so much more than that. I know the intention was to make the “reveal” of her being the new DI more shocking to the officers but I think it quite a cliched way to introduce her character to the 80s scene. The writers would probably argue they were demonstrating the sexism that’s prevalent in the 80s but it doesn’t sit well with me.
I don’t think it’s necessary just because she’s a female character. It could have been done more subtly.

I was obsessed with Ashes to Ashes when the second series came out - had the biggest crush on Gene Hunt which when all your mates fancy Channing Tatum is admittedly a bit weird. 😳😂

Watched life on Mars and nearly finished the first season of Ashes to Ashes - episode 7 on just now! Gene is brilliant!!! Definitely the best character!
I think he could be the lead character in a cop show , without the time travel element.

Ahhh didn't know there was a thread on this show! It's one of my favourites!

I hardly watched TV with my dad but when this aired we'd sit down and watched every week! Sad and glad there was only two series as didn't want them ruin such a good show! But also heard there was a possible 3rd series in the making??

I tried to watch ashes to ashes but couldn't really get into it and then watched the last series to see what the really ending was and it was just OK? Felt a bit rushed and idk.

But life on mars will always hold a spec place in my heart for TV shows. It's just so good <3

Anyone been following the #LifeonMarsLive hashtag on Twitter??

New series in the works- Lazarus.... mixture of both casts, all keen to be on board.

Not gonna lie... bleeping excited at the thought!!!!
So excited!! and I was wondering which Bowie song they’d pick!! Very fitting
