He filmed himself on the way to the concert saying he needed to “have words” with Niall or similar.
What struck me about all of 1D is that they seem to lack perspective on how lucky they got. None of them were hugely talented. But post 1D instead of appreciating what they did have they seemed to struggle with still needing to be famous.
Harry has said in interviews that he constantly thinks of all the many talented people out there who are better artists than him.
I don’t want to be harsh as they were all young and young men have egos.
Yeah I saw that video too. I just mean that if they met after the show and had a catch up and a photo etc, it seems a bit sad that he may have liked a video like that afterwards.

The cynic in me also wonders how much song writing they actually did/do. I studied classical music for years including theory. It’s not easy to write songs but somehow young guys with little/no musical training managed it.

I remember the Popbitch mail out once mentioned a phrase “change a word, take a third”. In other words, change a really small part of a song you’ve been given, to pinch a chunk of the writing credits.

I’m sure it’s a tactic used by many young manufactured bands to give a veneer of artistic credibility.

I don’t know enough about it, but I think only Niall could play an instrument to any decent level but yet they could write songs? Does that make sense? How do you go from not being able to read music to writing songs in a couple of years? What does “writing” mean. If it means composing a melody to hum to someone else to reduce to music then maybe they did “write”.

I think the main problem from a psychological perspective is that the lads were so used to the high of being on stage in 1D to go from that and being manically busy 24/7 to nothing/lacking purpose was too much.

Then the less successful ones have to watch Harry become some kind of superstar when he started where they did.

What they needed was someone to say lads you got lucky, there s many talented musicians who never make a penny from it. So go find a purpose in life but it mightn’t be on a stage.

Liam was clearly at a loss with what to do with himself. To some extent the industry chewed him up & spat him out.

To be honest my musical skills are basic but I can still write a song and strum it on a guitar it's quite easy to do and one directions songs weren't exactly the most in depth touching lyrics lol. The music that was used to back the lyrics up are what made the songs the hits they were really. I think they just gave Niall his guitar to make them look more talented than they were at times. Plus Harry and Louis were in bands before as well so maybe made their own music then too? Let's be honest though, apart from liam all their auditions were basic and they only got through due to their looks and style.

I think that's why they worked so well as a boyband, they all did bring something to the table, but then as Liam was branded the sensible one etc it makes you wonder is this why once able to, he did push the boundaries etc and combined with mental health issues it started the slippery slope of addiction ☹
At the start of XFactor he was posed as the ring leader, but it did quickly change to Harry. I think it's incredibly hard to come out of a band and not be associated with that all the time, very few have managed it, and whilst Liam was made fun of for seeming to yearn after his 1D fame, it seems to me it was more a sense of belonging he might have missed rather than fame per se ☹️

Did liam not have a few medical problems when he was younger too that meant he couldn't have the same "benders" most his age do? Could have also meant he was trying to play catch up over lost time.
It's just so sad seeing how much he wanted this on his audition to how it all ended for him. Really on paper he had the most out of them all to be the most successful as a solo artist

Fair point re the song writing.

Zayn said fairly recently I think that the issue with 1D was that they were 5 “solo artists”.
That’s taking it too seriously IMO.

I always thought Zayn and Liam had the voice, and Harry was a showman. I'm sorry but I have absolutely zero idea how Niall and Louis got in the band 😅

This is also what I think. It genuinely baffles me that Louis got into the band as his audition was dreadful and at the time I didn’t think he was good looking at all, being funny carried him until around 2012 when he changed his hair and got better looking so someone must’ve seen the vision 2 years in advance 😂 I think Liam would have had far more success if he had gone down the Michael Buble route as his voice suited that style much more than Pop, as did his personality.

Yes, he was born with only one working kidney, so reportedly he didn't drink at all initially. Eventually doctors decided it was now working etc which is when I think he did begin to drink the same as a lot of teens did at the time.
Most recently he postponed his solo tour in 2023 due to a kidney infection, now it makes you wonder if this was due to that, or maybe rehab...

Michael Jackson could not read music - he used a tape recorder to get ideas down before going in the studio. He also played guitar and piano

I can only assume Cherly had a lot do with his family. They probably kept in touch with her for Bear.

Whilst the family will be very upset Cheryl may have been more ok to sort the funeral. Also being in the celeb circle she may have known more of his friends.

Plus Kate probably has no money to sort a funeral.
Cheryl and his family live near to each other so probably see Bear every day as live in the same village.

I agree with all of this. I reckon Liam would have had a happier life as a solo artist, like you say Buble style. Louis needed to be in some Oasis kind of boyband, and Niall more something like boyzone or something. Harry has found his niche, and tbh Zayn was absolute dream boyband material. He's the most perfect marketable popstar.

Someone posted on Reddit about his bag and hat being on the balcony below. In order for them to get there, he must have lent over the balcony to swing them under - I can imagine how you could then fall from that. I also remember reading somewhere that ‘an ex girlfriend’ was staying on the floor below?! Does anyone remmeber that?

I worked as a publicist for many years and the pictures of Kate are 100% a set up. Fame is ugly. And there’s so much manipulation / smoke and mirrors - partly why I left. I can see why a PR would push for pap pics ‘show the public how you’re *really* feeling Kate’,
‘Let’s drive up public support’ But they fumbled and the photos are too obvious. It now risks doing the opposite even though I am sure the emotion in the pics is genuine.
Actually maya was on the above room with Roger

How exactly does a kidney that did not work from birth, suddenly start functioning 20+ years into life? That never sat right with me
