His wee mind isn't a sponge. It's a confused mess. He needs to concentrate on English as he's clearly having some difficulty there never mind Spanish. That can come later.
She's trying to push "he's so intelligent" narrative that she further tried to push on this morning when actually he's not. He's a wee one struggling but her needs and her insane want to be in the spotlight mean she's failing the boy in the broadest sense.
Concentrate on getting him to actually speak in English in sentences and properly and then and only then move onto another language.
It's not difficult.
