Last film you watched?

I like to watch foreign films occasionally and I watched an Iranian film on Amazon Prime "The stoning of Soraya M" it was really horrifying the way a woman had been set up so that her husband could leave her for a 14 year old girl. The poor lady was set up as an adulteress and stoned to death, it was mortifying and shocking.

"Once Upon A Time in the West" - a sprawling western directed by Sergio Leone, and starring Charles Bronson as the good guy, and Henry Fonda, playing a rare bad guy role (and it works extraordinarily well!)

Little bit on the long side, but certainly a great and worthy watch

I’ve just watched the Deer Hunter on BBC iPlayer, had never seen it before, thought some parts were brilliant and some parts like the wedding just long and unnecessary but overall a very affecting film, and young Christopher walken - wow what a stunning man!

I've been watching a lot of stuff lately that I either haven't seen before or haven't seen in ages. Last night I watched Back To School and Caddyshack, both fun films, I love that 80s humour.

"Midnight Run" - a surprise turn for Robert De Niro playing the funny guy for a change. He plays a bounty hunter who wants to retire doing one final well paid job: to find crooked accountant, played by Charles Grodin. This accountant is also wanted by his former boss for screwing him out of millions of dollars, and therefore wants him dead!

It's an entertaining thriller, with many funny moments, mostly done by Grodin at the expense of De Niro. But it works very well.

Raya and the last dragon. Stunning to look at, great world building and central character but very disappointing story (or lack of) and annoying dragon character (although she did improve tbh). It really needed a strong villain.

"2001: A Spacy Odyssey"

Still stands the test of time despite being over 50 years old. The first 10 minutes or so being particularly outstanding, and the stargate sequence near the end was, and still is, totally mindbending!

Hal 9000, the mardy computer was the star of the show, and interestingly each letter of its name is a step away from computer giant IBM.

Empire Records on Amazon Prime. I remember really liking this film as a teenager. Now that I've rewatched it as an adult, I found some of the characters quite annoying lol. The actor who played Lucas was cute, wonder why he didn't have more of a high profile career.
