Just out of Across the Spiderverse. Quite possibly the most phenomenal looking movie I've seen this decade. THe way the animation shifts depending on what universe they are in is great: from clean CGI for the main Spidermans, to pale watercolours bleeding away to nothingness for Gwen Stacys' melancholy, to newspaper-cut-up 1980s' punk aesthetic, to black-and-white scribbly madness for the baddie. Extraordinary looking film, a feast for any animator

(Sound mixing was goosed though, could hardly hear what the character were saying, very frustrating, and was far too long for the younger kids in the audience)

The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent.

I liked how Nic Cage was sending himself up in this, but I find Pedro Pascal irritating, I don't get how everyone thinks he's some amazing actor as every film I see him in he seems to be basically playing the same part.
Sharon Horgan gets on my wick too, the more famous she gets the worse an actress she seems to have become (and I've still not forgiven her for that bloody Covid whingefest she did with James McAvoy a couple of years ago).
And then I was like...the girl playing his daughter looks familiar, where have I seen her before? Turns out she's Lily Sheen (Kate Beckinsale & Michael Sheen's daughter). Nice to see nepotism still alive and well!

So overall 6/10 and at least 4 of those were for Nic Cage 😂

Am in the middle of a Hunger Games rewatch. I had forgotten how good these films are. Of course they completely hang on Jennifer Lawrences incredible talent, but a the supporting cast are very strong too.
