Rebecca Hall and Tim Roth star in a twisted tale of spousal manipulation and controlling relationships. Great acting but ran out of steam. 6/10

The Banshees of Inisheerin. I enjoyed it and the performances were great.

There's something downcast about all of the films from Martin McDonagh or his brother John Michael.

Calvary
In Bruges
The Guard
Three Billboards
Banshees

They are all very well made films and some of them are really funny, but I don't enjoy them as much as I should due to the pessimistic nature of them. Maybe I'm just soft.

The one thing about Banshees, is has produced one of the best memes in recent memory.

Spoiler alert:

The Fabelmans, which is a semi-autobiographical film about Steven Spielberg’s childhood/young adult life. I absolutely loved it, it was so interesting to see where the inspiration from his films came from ( I want to watch it again to see if I can catch more references), the casting was perfect ( loved Paul Dano and Michelle Williams as his parents), the music/score was top-notch! It didn’t feel like it lasted over 2 hours, I didn’t look at my watch once.
It is my film of the year so far!

He Son, which hadgreat acting but was so predictable. The ending was telegraphed from miles away, but there was a lot of interesting imagery ( birds and water )
