They are a great long distance shoe but I wouldn't be breaking in a new pair on the day of the run, even if he has been running in an identical pair leading up to it.

Most I'd do in a new shoe would be 10km.

Each to their own, so it might work for him, but it goes against all recommendations.
 
I wonder how his marathon training has gone? I’d have seen him at a couple of the Offaly race series 5ks and his times had improved this year. But I remember passing him in a half last year and he was really struggling.
 
Sounds mean but part of me hopes he does it and has a tough run. The marathon has a way of putting manners on ya! I’d love to pass him and do a better time than him! Although he’d probably be on moaning for days about how sore he is.
 
He's done one before? Hasn't he?

To be fair to him, his times in the half and in the 30k that he has done have been quite good.

He'll probably have Bore-na meet him half way around with a bag of sweet king jellies or some shoe cleaner to make an ad.
 
Fake coughing today when pretending he's running a marathon this weekend

For someone supposedly training for a marathon he's earing a hell of a lot of tit food
