Can we discuss this girl pleaseee she honestly irks me to no end UGH. I had to unfollow Kate because I find myself feeling so down and envious when I see her come up on my Instagram. First off, she’s naturally gorgeous and petite with the most perfect little nose and stunning hair and inevitably that does really well in the realm of influencing. Society automatically puts pretty skinny white girls on a pedestal even if they lack any personality or uniqueness whatsoever. Kate, like myself is in her early twenties and while most of us are working our asses off and still ending up with the bare minimum, her simple white girl beauty makes her thousands of pounds per week. Her style, while it is nice and classy, her content is forever repetitive just scroll through her Instagram its all essentially variations of the same 10 or so outfits. Yet she continues to grow and grow and grow in numbers and her money is piling up simply from getting her best friend to take a picture of her outfit to upload to her Instagram and get paid between £2-3K PER POST. She doesn’t even put effort into her content, barely socialises with other influences unless to take each others pictures, she doesn’t even edit her photos or make effort on her stories apart from showing gifted products or a quick selfie/photo of her laptop on the balcony saying she’s doing work, but most infuriatingly, the designer bags and jewellery etc. I swear she treats herself to a new designer bag each week and it’s just so unrelatable and out of touch. Especially during the pandemic when most of her followers have likely been struggling. I know Kate does seem to be a lovely girl and I’m fully aware of the fact that I’m literally venting here because I’m envious of how easy she has it and the amount of privilege she (and many other of those thin, pretty white girls) have. Does anyone else feel this way at times in regards to influencers especially the ones who appear to be raking it in by during the absolute bare minimum? And how many of them are the same, repetitive content, lacking personality, diversity yet still managing to grow bigger day by day. I actually see other influencers/creators who put so much more effort and creativity into their content as well as engagement and realness on their stories, yet they might not get as much attention as they don’t fit societies standard of ‘pretty’ etc which is really sad to see. Also, I watched one of her YT vids recently the one where she surprised her mom with a kitten and you get so see her parents and the house they live in they don’t look rich or posh at ALL compared to Kate!! Like they appear to almost be complete opposite of her, deffo have a look if you haven’t already. Was interesting to see, I just thought she would have come from a fairly well off classy family but definitely doesn’t seem like the case. I wonder where her designer materialism etc comes from as her family don’t seem interested in that style of stuff at all! Also weird to think their young daughter is likely richer than they are what with her Mercedes, multiple cartier, £50K worth of designer etc. Anyway, sorry rant/vent over just want to chat about her and maybe start a conversation on influencers and their privilege. I’m not someone who hates influencers or anything like that but I just inevitably start to get down and depressed at how easy many of them have it from doing the bare minimum/basically being able to use their looks to make £££££££
