This thread has definitely taken a Mumsnet turn.
Yep, certainly has. Ignore them I say. This thread has definitely taken a Mumsnet turn.
This is like my life. Mine didn't have big job but I had been made redundancy and had significant savings so took time off. Carnage when I went back and wanted equity.I've seen it before - Mr Big Job gets used to the wife being at home bringing up babiesand waiting on himand throws his toys out of the pram (or has an affair) if the wife suddenly says that now the children are older, this isn't enough for her anymore and it's his turn to pull his weight. About the only thing he ever got right, but I did sort of admire David Cameron slightly for saying that he was going to step back & do child duty as it was his wife's turn for the big career after he reisgned. Mind you, he was probably pretty unemployable, to be honest...
In fairness, day to day it is quite flexible. She's the one who does the school runs and she's the one who does the food shop. She's the one who brings them to the cinema at the weekends. She always has them in Aldeburgh when she goes there.
Begs the question, what does he do?
Her kids are much older teens so presumably get themselves to school on a bus/train/school transport. Her much storied school runs are actually very rare and she makes such a drama out of them. It’s literally what the rest of us do every day before going to work (not in Dubai). In fairness, day to day it is quite flexible. She mostly only has the boys, so I assume her daughter is still at home with her dad.
