So unsafe. Babies need to be in a clean clear cot/crib or Moses basket - the advice and evidence couldn’t be clearer. That mattress (looks like a cot mattress) is right up against the wall and the side of the bed, plus has loads of bits, cords etc near it. So dangerous - he could roll and get stuck between the mattress and the bed. Makes me so upset just thinking about it. No one thinks anything bad is going to happen to them - but SIDS and sleep related deaths are a real thing that can happen to anybody. Why increase your risk of this???

They are obviously not short of money. If the cot doesn’t fit right next to the bed get a Snuzpod or other bedside crib which are made for this situation.

Floor beds can work really well, I know that Montessori beds are very popular as my brother has one for his youngest but they are usually for children who are older. For example children that are toddling or moving under their own steam and be safe. If Marley rolled he would be under their bed, in a sleeping bag unable to move or clear his airway if it was covered by the sleep sack or something. It’s like most things, they can be done safely if you follow the proper guidelines. I would be surprised if professionals would endorse this sleep set up.

Has anyone messaged him about it?

Perhaps I’m being cynical but he seems to have changed his attitude towards Marley now he is more engaging. Well, of cause he was unsettled, wanting to be held and near them. He was a new born baby who couldn’t see!

I’m sure I read somewhere on hear where a poster remarked on his sight.

I had to take a look after seeing these comments and I cannot believe he and Rosie would think a mattress on the floor next to the bed is safe. There’s no shortage of information on safe sleeping and I’m really surprised they either haven’t read about it or they’ve decided to completely ignore it. As already said, he could roll or shift himself in the gap between the bed or wall and suffocate. Both of mine moved around loads even before rolling by kicking their feet around the cot and shifting their bodies. They’d end up in all sorts of positions. Marley’s not far off the age of rolling anyway. I just can’t believe he would not only do that but share it! What an idiot.

Oh dear, not to defend Joe but our 5 month old sleeps on her cot mattress on the floor in our bedroom 😕 she is a massive baby and got way too big for her next2me crib (she kept hitting the sides and waking herself up) and she's too young to go in her own room. Figured it was better than co sleeping as I worry about rolling over on to her. But now I'm worried I've done the wrong thing!
There is nothing surrounding it though, she's not up against the bed or the wall. I promise I'm not a terrible mother 😭
Anyway, on topic, I really used to like Joe. But now he just comes across as a pretentious prick, what with the never ending kale and quinoa and all that other rank stuff he forces down his child. Let her have some fun food for once!

I’ve got no issue with floor beds if they are done correctly but those stories gave me shivers. What if he learns to roll and gets stuck between the bed and the mattress. Horrifying. I also hope they are lifting the mattress during the day - floor beds should have slats to allow air flow so condensation doesnt build up causing mould. Gross.

He can’t have grown out of a Snuzpod already! Guarantee there will be a #gifted bedside crib by the end of the week.

Don’t beat yourself up. We all do things sometimes that don’t follow the guidelines 100%. My worry would be that a baby who can’t sit up yet could possibly roll their head off the side of the mattress, causing compression to their neck/throat and not be able to get themselves back up on the mattress. So a mattress in a cot with bars is the best thing for peace of mind. In Joe’s case, his baby could roll down the sides and suffocate. And he’s sharing it with all his followers who may think it’s okay.

That floor bed just freaked me out ! What if something from the bedside table falls on him ? I know I have a glass of water by y bed at night and I always knocking stuff off in the middle of the night ! What if indie comes into the room in the middle of the night and treads on him ? What if Rosie jumps out of bed and forgets 🙈 OMG just really freaks me out

They have the money to easily just buy a small cot and then they can donate it if they are worried it won’t get used for long 🤷‍♀️

What did they do with Indie? Was she in a Moses basket until 6 months? Did they not have a side car cot for her or a cot that would fit in their room?
