I remember reading at the time and finding it heart-breaking. I remember even at the time thinking 'where is the dad of her boy? Does she have family? I'm so grateful this couldn't happen to me, because I know my parents would just help me out.' I absolutely know that my last statement is absolutely not true for everyone. I just remember thinking about it and how she either must have no parents or be completely estranged from her family to get to the point of having to pawn and sell all her belongings.

I also remember finding this statement odd at the time: You pare back, until you have only two plates, two bowls, two mugs, two glasses, two forks, two knives, two spoons, because everything else feels like an indulgence, and rent arrears don’t wait for indulgence. It figured you surely wouldn't be able to get money for a few plates and cups and she didn't say she sold them. So did she give them away? Why?

Overall though, I completely believed her and felt incredibly sorry for her situation. I still do now, I get why you might be forced to leave a job because of childcare issues and I think the system is broken and cruel and people do fall behind on rent and get into a spiral of debt.

It's very strange though to hear the stories now about aunties, grannies and her dad. Why did no one help at the time?

I don't want to come across as callous, but as always with our dear Jack, I think there is so much more to all of this than meets the eye. Being poor and being a narcissistic attention seeker are not mutually exclusive.

Erm, I've never passed my driving test for the same reason — I just freeze up and panic. But I've never considered going to the doctor about it or linking it to autism! I've just embraced a life of buses and trains, which is lovely and gives me time to read or look out the window. Jack is 100% one of those people who needs a label for every bloody thing in her life.

I think if I turned up at the doctor and said this they would be confused as to why I was there

Someone feel free to correct me but you can't go to your GP to get an autism diagnosis. I'm on the waiting list to get my ADHD diagnosed and we might just go private for the length of time it would take. Smells like more bullshit to me
 
I've just caught up on yesterday's show, had a busy few days but kept up to date on this thread, you've all hit the many nails on their heads. What is really bugging me, aside from her lack of knowledge, is why at the end of each show she maniacally waves into the wrong camera. It always ends the same way, panning out from up high with same camera yet she's always facing the wrong way. Why haven't the producers told her which camera to look at as it finishes, or when she's watched it back remember to correct herself next time

That's right. A friend of mine has been going about 5/6 years through various different channels to get their child diagnosed. It's a long process. GP can refer but that's it. Same with MH, they can give you anti d's but not diagnose before that. A CPN couldn't even diagnose me. We had to go private for my kids learning difficulties. It's not a case of X,Y,Z oh thats it. Autism is so much more complex than that. She probably done a buzzfeed quiz.


Edit to add - the driving, did she ever think it's just anxiety? I failed 5 times. I was a mess. Ended up having the instructor in the back with me and i passed 6th time. That testing situation, with it being one on one, killed me.

Also if you have such serious mental health issues as she constantly touts that she has to get sympathy, then maybe the fire service isn't for you?
I dunno but if I was being burnt alive and Jack comes in and starts crying at me about that one time she couldn't afford eggs then I might be a bit worried.

FIRST OF ALL- she sold the light fittings? Bet her landlord was just thrilled with her.
SECOND OF ALL - telling that she thinks freezing up on stage at Glastonbury was messing up one of the biggest opportunities of her life. She's never sung in public before but thought she could, what, kickstart a singing career with someone else's crowd at GLASTONBURY?? Very telling. And mentioning her 'drunken conversation' with Louis Walsh .... she's so thirsty, not for helping people, but for fame.

I just don't understand, who would buy her light fittings? Unless she had bleeping tiffany lamps, is selling a light shade for 30p going to make any difference.
