I find it weird she’d say a short lease is fine as she’ll be 90, don’t most of us consider our children when it comes to financial planning/especially property? Especially as she’s from a family who’ve been able to pass on millions to each other? She really dgaf about this kid if that’s true.
I’d doubt she thought a one bedroom flat would be fitting as a forever home for the champion of the grifters povs so was prob thinking she’d sell that one and move on to a rich SugarmamaPapa who could afford to pay for big ol forever home with an orangery and hydrangea bushes long, long before she had to worry about the leasehold ending.

Not giving any thought to how she’d sell it- SHE wanted it so in her mind that would mean it’s a v desirable property, especially as THE Jack Monroe lived there.

Hard to believe this heckin’ big saga of attempted homebuying downsizing has been going on for two years at the end of this month.

Edit: and here’s upstairs PoPo, LITERALLY A COP who she was fantasy-threatening with slop from Feb 2023 as posted by @Geetbo. Left his commentary below the ss as it equally applies to her every utterance.

Ffs, the ocado nonsense was TWO years ago? She's been living out of those boxes for TWO years then? How many other cash only flats have come and gone since then? I bet there were others.
Stupid cow.

That line suggests she didn't understand the significance of the lease expiring. The problem isn't so much it expiring when you are living in the house. There are ways round that. The problem is if your life circumstances change and you need to sell in a hurry. It reduces your pool of potential purchasers and makes it more difficult to sell. Exactly what has happened to this couple.
This might have changed (I am not terribly au fait with property law) but I believe the freeholder can refuse to extend/sell the lease, or force a high price for it.

(edited to get my terminology right)

The story boils down to sellers thought they’d found a useful idiot to sell their basically unsellable flat to, Jack either saw sense/had sense put into her/never had the money or some combo of the above and therefore it didn’t happen. And she took the cowardly way out and ghosted the sellers rather than admitting she changed her mind.

Plus she may or may not have £157k but we don’t know where from or when she got it (and any real journalist is going to hugely struggle to prove anything about it) so all we do know is she’s likely been lying about being poor - which we already knew 😂

This has been bothering me as well. I don’t doubt it’s true. It’s the kind of idiotic thing I’d expect her to say without actually understanding what it means. I wonder if part of the ghosting was embarrassment at the prospect of having to explain she’s too thick to understand what a leasehold is and a grownup has now explained it to her.

This is what happened to us, albeit in the 90s so laws may have changed.
Our flat was the middle floor of a Victorian terrace with one flat on each of the ground and upper floors.
All 3 of us owned our flats and we decided to club together to make an offer to the leaseholder to buy it. He refused to sell and just put the rates up. All 3 of us then thought'sod this' and sold up. Don't know about the other flats but I know our buyer made a ridiculously high offer to buy the entire leasehold.
It's a peculiar way of house owning. It's like you own the bricks but not the air around it!

If there’s an adult in the house?

This revelation that she's sitting on a substantial pile of cash makes her decision to ignore the CCJs that she still has and not to pay off her debts seem like everything she does is carefully choreographed even if it makes her own life difficult. The other explanation for this way of thinking is that she's thick as tit.
There is nothing more satisfying than paying off a debt that has been hanging over you and the sense of relief that no-one will be knocking on your door demanding money is a huge weight off your shoulders.
Anyone who is still involved with guest and privy to her behaviour on a regular basis must despair when her latest crisis hits SM.
I have no sympathy for them because they've enabled her and continue to do so.
Her parents and SB's Dad must dread the wailing and honking phone calls from her.
Good!
They're an appalling family (excluding SB and siblings).

Well, at least now we know what Netflix’s prestige drama for Fall 2024 will be.

Here is the vendor trying to get in touch with her on the hellsite. Her settings mean it is very unlikely she would have seen it from her main account.

I think she absolutely saw this, and a big part of Jack locking her account is that she didn't want him to be able to search through her Tweets to see evidence of what a pathological, attention-seeking, drama-queen liar she is.

Luckily for us, many of the flats around that area are the same/similar builds. This floorplan is from another in that road (but flipped)View attachment 3065522 q
Thanks for all that you do. Can’t see the link to your tip jar.

The story has to be real. If it was false she would have gone all guns blazing but this is a real person’s account! I do think the bit about the 90 hour working week may have been added for creativity but otherwise it seems true. Why would that guy risk his own personal reputation for it.

We don't have leasehold properties in Scotland but even I know that buying a property with a short lease is a very bad idea. What an absolute plum. And the seller is just as bad IMO, imagine going public because your sale has fallen through. Sour grapes! (That's enough fruit references. Ed)
I, for one, am glad they went public as it just adds more evidence about how she operates. She must have known their backstory. Probably played the saviour in person, maybe thought she could get the lease extended, then changed her mind but doesn’t have the common decency not to ghost them.
