Hello fellow hausfrauen. I've been lurking for a while and not posting because the kitten thing was just too much. Too, too much. I'm relieved the little thing is no longer in any pain.
Gosh, she's so disingenuous, slippery and manipulative, isn't she? So many stories, so many tantalising hints, so many manipulations of others. A few thoughts from me:
@Anonymousone, you put it so well on detention under the MHA. Jack may want her followers to think she was about to be sectioned or voluntarily committed but it just doesn't work like that. Someone I know once ran away from the south east to the north of england during a very bad MH spell, when they were under the care of a crisis team. They literally upped and went in a taxi (Yes a taxi!!!) some 300 miles. And when they got to their destination the local police were waiting for them; they were placed under section in the local hospital and when they were well enough were escorted back to the south east where they were placed under section again. You don't just get to up and leave if you're seriously ill unless you're playing some serious tricks on your MH team and convincing them that you're not as bad as they think you are. I really hope that's not the case here.
Suicide baiting is ugly but should also be taken seriously. Anytime anyone flags suicide as an option publically, it needs to be taken seriously. No matter if they've threatened it hundreds of times, it still needs to be taken seriously and that person needs help. She mentions suicide a lot. It's worrying and it's also dangerous, because suicide ideation is communicable amongst vulnerable groups. She needs help, until she comes to the realisation that it's very dangerous for her vulnerable followers if she keeps mentioning it without a TW. Almost as dangerous is posting pics that could be interpreted as thinspo or body checking. ED people are amongst the most vulnerable people to this sort of behaviour. And yes, body check pics are part of the disorder too - but anyone who does it needs help.
As someone upthread succinctly said, Jack is doing what in AA is called a "geographical" - abruptly travelling to a new place in hopes you'll feel better. But, to use a cliche, Wherever you go, there you are. And geographicals are particularly dangerous because, removed form your normal support group of family and friends, you have too much time to think about all the things that got you feeling like you needed to run away in the first place. Take it from someone who's been there. I really hope Jack has friends in Edinburgh she can turn to.
TL;DR - Jack needs help. I fully agree with
@BeautifulTrauma and others who have pointed out that a person can have bad MH and be a manipulative
twit at the same time. But in Jack's case, she needs help and I really, really hope that someone she knows insists that she gets it, like NOW.
