Have a very similar dynamic in the family also. Lies and fabrication is simply not discussed because the person might relapse and start drinking again. Or might follow through on their endless threats of self harm. It wouldn't surprise me if it's the same Chez Monroe.

This gets to the heart of it. What are people to do if they have questions about the behaviour of a public figure?

Hard agree on this. I’ve known people like this and that’s what I see too. They don’t agree with her, but they keep the peace for the family’s sake.
 
Harold definately scarpered for a reason. The fact he told her to her face, that she is damaged or whatever is telling that even he thought she was going off the deep end.

Like we say all the time she needs help, proper help, she needs to get a life( i dont mean that cheekily) she needs to fix all the people she has used over time to get to this point. She needs to stop thinking the whole world is picking on her( when they are only picking out on her own issues)
Most of all she needs to work on herself and get herself into a position where she can do all of the above. Twitter twatting will not do this. She needs a break and some self reflection.

and if she hadn't looked up the bus on the TfL website, been able to navigate the weirdness of the East Croydon interchange without having a chaos on the tram tracks, not ended up in West Wickham instead and tried walking, she'd have bottled it and gone scurrying back to Southend by the time she got as far as the desolate ends by the old Time Bomb site, never mind walking through the Waddon estate and then having to cross at Fiveways. She can't even do a roundabout where it's obvious what car has priority - the lights would have completely banjaxed her

I drove through Fiveways last week. Forgot how terrifying it was! Alas no Wing Yip visit but there is a shiny new swimming pool/leisure centre opposite that I've not noticed before.
Can you imagine her trying to get a bus outside East Croydon Station? I know where I'm going and where to stand but her smol pixie brain would end up on the 119 to Bromley. Or Mitcham.

Yes I agree with this, from my experience of having a narc in the family they really do wreak so much havoc that, if it’s not practicable or humane to go NC, you just really walk on eggshells around them and try to keep them sweet and don’t go anywhere near Doing or saying anything that might set them off. Yes you could say it’s immoral or whatever but sometimes it’s just what you have to do to keep yourself safe.

Also people on here saying Big Dave comes off like an egotist or whatever, I fully understand what you’re saying but he’s also fostered loads of children so I have to give that to him as I’d never have the guts to do that.

I honestly think her parents try not to get too emotionally involved any more and if that’s the case then I fully empathise with their position.
 
Honest to god all this palaver, and a previous one this year with Depp/Heard makes me think that nobody should be allowed to voice their opinions unless they are willing to do a deep dive into a given situation. Bloody loves Marian Keyes I do. But people be just saying words for the words sake, for appearances and “suppose sos”. Makes me sad and makes me want to switch off from any sort of celeb / public people. But I love you Ninnies and I love a bit of strictly so, and I’m addicted to my phone so I guess unless I find a different hobby I’ll stay and deep dive with you lot 😂
